  • Yesterday I made orange chicken for dinner. This was a Trader Joe’s frozen dinner thing, so by “made” I mean heated up and assembled. Anyway it’s not meant to be a meal for one person, so no surprise that I was full before I ate half of it. So the leftovers were my lunch today. After work I went to Trader Joe’s, and I wanted to grab dinner at the Honeybear Bahn Mi place, but there was no where to park. Instead I went to the nearby teriyaki place and got hot & spicy teriyaki chicken.

  • My name is Baurzhan and I live in Kazakhstan. I am currently struggling with several debts. I work and have a regular income, but my monthly debt payments have become too difficult for me to manage, and I urgently need help with a $2000 payment. This money would be used only to cover my existing debt. I am not asking for money for travel, shopping, or anything unnecessary. I have also created a fundraiser where people can read more about my situation and help if they wish. I would be very gratef...

  • I hate having migraines.

  • I was just wondering if ChatGPT could design an electronics circuit. So I gave it the outputs I wanted. And it's just told me what all the components I would need are and how to connect them... It's pretty straight forward. Just trying to get a diagram out now...

  • Question: I've been looking at how to measure water quality in rivers, and can't find much open source hardware in this space, and I'm wondering if anyone is working on this?

  • For the last year or so, I've been a Non-Exec Director mentor on Connectd (https://buff.ly/4buysLb) The mentoring conversations I have are some of the most positive engagements I have and I realise that people seem to really appreciate the time. Feeling positive right now.

  • Challenge: Name a city (not municipality) that: * Starts with "E" * Not in Europe or USA (too easy) * And is either * over 1 million inhabitants * or a national capital of an independent nation (not British overseas territories for example) I can only find one.

  • @proactivepaul if you didn't cheat then very well done

  • What the actual fuck?!? (I rarely swear but this is really really bad) This is attacking the symptom not the cause. They need help not police. The Guardian: Schools in England send police to homes of absent pupils with threats to jail their parents https://www.theguardian.com/education/article/2024/may/19/schools-england-police-homes-absent-pupils?CMP=share_btn_url

  • @proactivepaul yup. Too small. I genuinely spent a long time just trying to find anything... It does amaze me how there is only one given the frequency of the letter in the English language and the fact that Britain has had multiple monarchs and important people whose names start with E.

  • I need a good meeting agenda timer. When running an online meeting externally with a known agenda and timings, it's really useful for the organiser(s)/chair(s) to have an indication if they are ahead or behind schedule. Not just a "green/amber/red" but "running 3 mins behind". Ideas for tools for this? Preferably *separate* from the actual meeting (so not a zoom app for example). So... * add an agenda and timings * shareable (viewer/editor?) * Ad...

  • What are the major think tanks focused on Net Zero? Do any exist? I'm not talking about climate change pressure groups, but specifically Net Zero. Also, does any polling company really understand the impacts of climate? No poll seems have an underpinning of climate issues.

  • Can anyone

  • I don't know how to do social media any more. The communities I used to engage with are so fragmented, and I don't really want to join 47 discord servers, have 14 different social media accounts, and try to keep up. Twitter worked on so many levels, and it has been destroyed.

  • Wondering about shifting to BlueSky for day to day, or even TikTok. Am not getting the same experience as twitter.

  • So, in my quest to simplify my life, I have started to decouple myself from the large privacy invading cloud and AI based services (Microsoft and Google, I'm looking at you), especially with regards to calendars. Emacs has built-in calendar, diary, and appointment capabilities. As I live in Emacs most of the time, these are sufficient for the vast majority of my calendar needs. However, until I achieve the holy grail of *Emacs on the go* (I'm getting there but not quite yet),...

  • Quasi New Bike Day After 10000+ km, I thought it was time to properly service my bike. New chain, chainset, bottom bracket, disk pads. Rides like a new bike! • The OS on the Pebble was updated in the past day or so. One of the news items says that there is now an "Extra Large" text size option, supposedly under "Display" settings. I cannot find it. Anybody else seen this? I have noticed, however, that the "Large" text size setting is now applied throughout the system. This really helps, especially for the settings menu. #Pebble #PebbleWatch

  • Local effects of climate change for me. Every one of the past 8 months has been warmer than the 1991–2020 average, and 6 of those have been drier than average.
