My upgrade from OPNsense 26.1 to 26.7 did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. So, I made a blog post about making a fast recovery and potential CPU microcode issues with certain hardware such as CWWK. https://invirtuate.com/blog/incidents/how-to-recover-from-unsuccessful-opnsense-26.7-upgrade #opnsense #selfhosted #homelab #technology #firewall

For those listening to Ben and @daringfireball on Dithering, he was talking about nvALT, not nvUltra. nvUltra should be out in the next 2 months and is NOT open source. nvALT will probably be updated for Silicon around the same time, for those who prefer to just keep using it. NV has had some PRs submitted for Apple Silicon conversion, easy to pull from the upstream, if you know what you're doing and want to do it yourself. I'm confident nvUltra is different enough and better in...

Lately on the blog: One more for the road: FileRouter https://brettterpstra.com/2026/08/05/one-more-for-the-road-filerouter/?utm_campaign=blog_post&utm_source=mastodon

Iโm officially announcing FileRouter today, and it's available now at https://filerouter.app. I won't be doing any major marketing until the Setapp version is available and I have time to launch on Product Hunt, but if you're interested, you can grab it now.

Yesterday I had 3 apps in top 20 charts on the MAS at once. I feel like I'm succeeding at this, we'll see how long it keeps up. TerminalWidget is still in #1 Paid Developer Tools ๐.
-
Added some utility functions like โOpen in Terminalโ (with configurable terminal app) and โReveal in Finder" to the latest version of FileRouter. Check it out at https://filerouter.app

@rhsev FileRouter is #10 in Productivity in the US, and other than posting on my blog, I haven't done any marketing at all yet. Planning a Product Hunt launch on the 15th, and will do some email marketing after that. Maybe make it to top 5? Thanks again for the start :).

It was a bi-lateral day. Got both sides of my big toe nail cut out and treated with some chemical so they donโt grow back, and then an hour later I was on a table getting shots through both sides of a vertebrae. Hopefully all this will be a good thing.

Welp, that's a full week in the #1 spot on Developer Tools for TerminalWidget. Nice.
