We are a collective of Puppet module, tooling and documentation authors all working together to ensure continued development on the code we maintain.
I’m a tech founder and recovering SysAdmin. I helped found DevOps and grew up in open source. These days I am convalescing from a decade of physical and mental neglect while running Puppet. I sometimes write about startups, founders, and other topics I like. I am an angel investor, mostly in areas of expertise (infrastructure and dev tools) and interest (local first software and power tools). I am generally default-accept on first conversations.
It’s very cool to be at the VoxConf 2026. I just came by briefly to say hi.
I did a quick summary of what my goals were when I started Puppet, back in2005:
- Sysadmins should use software written by sysadmins
- Sysadmins should have a seat at the table, not just have code thrown over the wall
- The job of system administration should change from manual, one-off work to strategic, high level, automated work
It’s great to see the community working to build a strong, viable community around a truly open project and toolchain
