My #UnpopularOpinion: Tourniquet was Ted Kirkpatrick’s band. When he passed away, the band essentially ended. Gary Lenaire’s attempt to keep it going under his leadership feels pretty weak, especially given his behavior. It’s a shame several concerts got cancelled for unclear reasons. #USA #HeavyMetal #SpeedMetal #ProgressiveMetal

Tattoos are stupid.

“Do you think my tattoo is cool?” No, I don’t. There are no cool tattoos. “Check out my sleeve!” Oh god ew. Tattoos themselves are stupid. Doubly so if it’s some media IP. “I put Batman on my body!” “Look at this image of Goku on my calf!” I can’t think of many things I’d want to do less than that. There are a few narrow exceptions. Chances are yours isn’t one of them. If you personally like tattoos, fine. I’m not saying nobody should get tattoos because I don’t like them. I’m stating my opinion that tattoos are stupid, and I am stating it here because it is probably not a popular opinion.

Ich werde im Kontext meiner Familie/Freunde in Sachen IT/AV etc. zunehmend dazu übergehen: Entweder ganz meinem Rat folgen oder ich mache gar nichts mehr. Ich will nicht mehr dabei zugucken müssen, wie etwas gekauft oder behalten wird, was ich ausdrücklich nicht empfehle, und es dann knallt, oder wie ein Serversystem weitergenutzt wird, bei dem ich keine Wartung mehr mache, und ich anschließend als Feuerwehr herhalten und Mitleid haben soll. #unpopularopinion

#UnpopularOpinion si los fachas de verdad quisieran prioridad nacional obligarían a que ningún catálogo perteneciera a empresas israelíes y todos volveríamos al Koha-Kobli y unificarían la cosa esta loca que hicieron con los kardex al digitalizar.

Can we please all stop the "newcomers to Mastodon should visit this and that site, follow these rules" etc? Social networks evolve. Trying to control the behaviour of newcomers is condescending and counterproductive in my opinion. I don't want the Fediverse to become a walled garden. #UnpopularOpinion, maybe. So be it.

I *want* nerds to run local LLMs in their homelabs. I *want* them to explore how they can be put to productive use. Running LLMs locally will lead us to better use of these systems. It will lead to „AI“ that is focused, limited, domain specific and allows for realistic calculations of resource use/waste. #UnpopularOpinion, maybe, but I stand by it. LLMs can be used in good ways. „Big AI“ isn’t one of them.

#UkPol #UnpopularOpinion For years, some of us said the key to long term political change was to elect a centrist, then force them to move left. Yesterday's by-election seems very much according to plan. Reform managed a measly 30% with a 50% turnout. That puts the racists on about 15% of the population. Sounds about normal to me. If I were Starmer, I'd be breathing a sigh of relief. I know I am.
