Uniting successful grassroots nonprofits in #Argentina, #Bolivia, #Brazil, and #Paraguay, the initiative will restore #ecosystems, bring back #KeySpecies, and develop #NatureBasedEconomies in a new cross-border model that addresses the mass #ExtinctionCrisis and climate instability on a global scale. "In a groundbreaking announcement during #ClimateWeek in September [2025], an alliance of grassroots South American nonprofits launched South America’s largest continental-scale rewilding endeavor. The Jaguar Rivers Initiative plans to reconnect #FragmentedEcosystems across the vast #ParanáBasin using #RiverCorridors as the connective tissue. 'We all know the urgency of the #biodiversity and climate crises,' said Kristine Tompkins of Tompkins Conservation. 'This bold initiative underlines the need for coordinated, large-scale action before it’s too late. I’d call it a lifeline to our planet.' "South America is in the midst of an unparalleled ecological crisis. #Wildlife populations across the region have declined by 94 percent since 1970—the steepest drop in the world. "The Jaguar Rivers Initiative will restore, protect, and connect #ecosystems throughout the heart of South America, covering nearly one million square miles, an area almost twice the size of Alaska. La Plata Argentina Affectionately named La Ciudad Perfecta This city is made in a **geometrically* beautiful manner*. It is in fact so nice that the systems used, are still being studied today and being copied in different places. Quotes La Plata was planned and developed to serve as the provincial capital after the city of Buenos Aires was federalized in 1880. It was officially founded by Governor Dardo Rocha on 19 November 1882. Its construction is documented in photographs by Tomás Bradley Sutton.[3] La Plata was briefly known as Ciudad Eva Perón (Eva Perón City) between 1952 and 1955. After La Plata was designated the provincial capital, Rocha was placed in charge of creating the city. He hired urban planner Pedro Benoit, who designed a city layout based on a rationalist conception of urban centers. The city has the shape of a square with a central park and two main diagonal avenues, north to south and east to west. There are numerous other shorter diagonal streets. This design is copied in a self-similar manner in small blocks of six by six blocks in length. For every six blocks, there is a small park or square. Other than the diagonal streets, all streets are on a rectangular grid and are numbered consecutively. Thus, La Plata is nicknamed "la ciudad de las diagonales" (city of diagonals).[4] It is also called "la ciudad de los tilos" (city of linden trees),[5] because of the large number of linden trees lining the many streets and squares. Cities usually have elaborate housingtransportationsanitation systems, you need to learn to life in and with. La Plata is no exception to that rule. Israel's IDF spotted in Venezuela Members of the IDF were seen at a hotel in Caracas, according to photos circulating on social media. This marks the first known presence of Israeli personnel in Venezuela since former leader Hugo Chavez severed diplomatic ties with Israel in 2009 and expelled its diplomats over the Gaza war. Prior to 2005, Israel and Venezuela maintained military cooperation, most notably a contract to modernize Venezuela’s F-16 fighters using Israeli technology. However, the deal was frozen due to US opposition aimed at protecting its own defense market.   The deployment comes as Israel expands its military footprint in Latin America It is worth asking what factors have led the IDF to take an interest in #Venezuela now #israel #SouthAmerica #politics
