Last weekend we were out on a stroll. We got as far as the end of the block when we saw two butterflies flyin' around. We stopped to take a photograph of them and a neighbor, inspired by us, went for it too. We chatted with her. When the neighborhood turkey came up, she told us she knew her as Mabel, & we told her we saw a drawing of her on someone's porch calling her Thelma. I don't feel so bad that I never got around to picking out a name for her, as she doesn't need 100 when 99 will do. We continued on our way, made it one more block, when who should appear in the intersection? Three guesses. Oh yes, partypeople: Thelma herself. We waved our arms to warn an approaching car, and once she was out of harm's way, we snapped some shots. On our way back, we just bumped into her at the same corner. This time we were on her side of the street. And that's how Spouse managed to get such a magnificent close-up. #WildTurkey #SmallCityLivin

Probably #motherwort ( #LeonurusCardiaca ). Gardeners are laughing at me, posting these non-descript plants. Here’s the thing. We had a yard when I was a kid. But I was an indoor cat, just reading all the time. On top of that, although my mother grew up in a small city near Philadelphia and her father had an agricultural background, she didn’t seem to know anything about wildlife at all. So whatever was growing in the yard was um dandelions and non-dandelions. So yeah I’m just catching up. #SmallCityLivin
