Storm Front Tornadoes in Iceland are very rare, but this strong curve of cloud connected with a distant column that seemed to be spinning. The coffee colour of the water was due to glacial flour, and the deep ripples in the lake show how windy it was. November: Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant in Fljótsdalshérað. Looking across Hálslón reservoir towards Sandfell island - which was a 678 metre mountain - and Vatnajökull glacier, south-eastern Iceland. #SaturdayScenery #Iceland #Photography

Misty Mountains The clear night has led to a crisp morning, and the mountains are scarved with freezing fog. The still waters of the fjord are edged with a crust of rime. The colours of the sunrise are painting the sky. 10:30 in late November, and the sun is at 2° above the horizon. Everything you see here is currently on fire or has burned, best I can determine from the official maps. The Babylon fire is currently estimated at 103,633 acres and is 25% contained. Fire activity for the Babylon fire is expected to remain active. Cause has not be determined, but the extreme drought in the area cannot have helped. Autumnal Between dark clouds, the sun spotlit the serried terraces tumbling down to the fjord far below. High turrets of mountains displayed their ribs. A patchwork of highlights slid across soft hills lower down. Everywhere around, the soothing sound of water splashing down to meet the fjord below.
