Interesting. Melissa De Felippo isn’t playing for Vancouver Rise today. Instead, she’s replaced by Anna Bout—who played for Vancouver Rise Academy last year, and made mark in the CONCACAF World Cup Champions Cup. #NSL #soccer RE: https://atomicpoet.org/objects/724f8e08-f670-49ad-b5a7-3afa55a455bf

All right! I’m pumped! Vancouver Rise is facing Ottawa Rapid. The Rise are the #NSL champs. However, they have yet to win a game this season. Meanwhile, Rapid won their home opener but lost their last game. Of course, I’m cheering on the Rise because they are my girls. I hope Latifah Abdu has come to play because she’s clearly their spark. Live thread starts now. You can catch the action here: https://www.nsl.ca/games/2026-05-06-ottawa-vancouver #soccer

Not gonna lie, I am once again feeling smug that our nascent national soccer leagues (both the Men's #CanPL and Women's #NSL ) are made up entirely of Canadian teams playing here and with requirements to drive domestic talent growth while "Canada's game" (both Men's and Women's) is focused almost entirely on US owned leagues playing with mostly US teams.

Former #NWSL Portland Thorns coach (who also coached Canada’s youth national teams and had a career playing in Winnipeg) and former NWSL and Canada national team player Desi Scott (aka “The Destroyer”) are co-founders of Winnipeg’s new (not yet named) Northern Super League franchise. Desi Scott will be Vice President, Community & Player Experience and Rob Gale will be Chief Sporting Officer of the new club that will play its first season in the #NSL next year (2027). https://www.nsl.ca/news/northern-super-league-awards-seventh-franchise-to-winnipeg-for-2027-season Pre-sales of tickets: http://www.wpgnsl.ca/

Ottawa Rapid score in the 28th minute off a terrible giveaway! Not going to lie. This hurts. This is the 3rd game that Vancouver allows the opposing team to score. They are not looking like champions this year. #NSL #soccer RE: https://atomicpoet.org/objects/af30b8dc-11ec-44d2-954f-1ba94366f799

Now at the intermission. Vancouver Rise are looking listless without Latifah Abdu. We don’t have that spark. Don’t look like champs out there on the pitch. We need a spark. Maybe a substitution? Someone to bring in the energy. I know we’re in Montreal’s stadium, but it’s time to bring it. #NSL #soccer RE:

Sigh.Another Montréal Roses goal. Right off a corner kick, then Tanya Boychuk taps it in. She celebrates with a backflip. Still the first half. Montréal Roses 2-0 Vancouver Rise RE: https://atomic...
