Video of the Dirty Work book launch, published by the NZ Herald; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4m_-zwPV9k Nicky Hager looks only slightly less exhausted when he comes to the mic. It seems this book was a bit of an own goal for the Taxpayers Onion. Hager said he had no plans to write about them. But then in 2023 they issued some preemptive reputation laundering claiming that he was, and within days sources started coming out of the woodwork 😂 #TaxpayersUnion #DirtyWork #NickyHager #NZHerald

"Some may have wondered if the political landscape today is different to the one Dirty Politics exploded onto in back in 2014. What, in the year 2026 – the year of a foreign affairs minister telling a Chinese MP to go back to where they came from – really passes for dirty work? What’s bad enough these days to actually make heads roll?" #LyricWaiwiriSmith, 2026 https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/23-09-2026/a-dispatch-from-the-sweaty-feverish-launch-of-nicky-hagers-new-book-dirty-work Sad that this level of political scumbaggery has gotten so normalised. #DirtyWork #DirtyPolitics #NickyHager

"And one of the reasons it has so much effect is because it operates in private. It operates secretly, and many of us, including me on most issues at any given time, don’t know who’s pulling the strings and what’s going on." #NickyHager, 2026 https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/23-09-2026/nicky-hager-and-dirty-work-24-hours-on This is key. If you don't know *who* is telling you things, you don't know nearly as much about *why*. Maybe people who are paid to deliver political messaging need to be obliged to disclose that? (1/?) #PolicyNZ
