Gustave Dore: 'Shades Of French Soldiers From The Past Exhort Soldiers To Victory On The Rhine'. Drawn in 1875, the subject shows that the 'Angels Of Mons' idea accidentally over-popularised by Arthur Machen during World War 1 had been around for some time.
