camphor wood ceiling eight mats wide
at Kinkaku-ji
秋ふるや楠八畳の金閣寺
-Yosa no Buson (与謝蕪村 1716-84).
The original ceiling was lost to fire in 1950, and replacing the single span of camphor wood proved impossible.
