So, i was browsing the PC games at RetroGameTalk's Repo, mostly because I saw Jurassic Park Trespasser go up and I was curious what else they had. Trespasser is a silly game, which I want to play and talk about. But something else caught my eye. Blair Witch Specifically: Blair Witch volume 1: Rustin Parr Blair Witch volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock Blair Witch volume 3: The Elly Kedward Tale All three games were published by Gathering of Developers, but all three games had different developers. Terminal Reality, Human Head Studios and Ritual Entertainment respectively. All games were released in 2000, within the space of 6 week. 4th Oct - 20th Nov. They look a little like Resident Evil style games too, complete with fighting zombies/monsters. I wonder if they all play the same, despite different developers. This feels like a potential train wreck of a series of games and it just hits my curiosity in the best (maybe worst) possible way. #PCGames #HorrorGames #AbandonWare

So, I am kind of chuckling to myself and had a fuming knee perk reaction to this. Dark Souls comparisons are, especially ones transcend genres, typically quite hilarious. Mostly because it is just talking about difficulty or challenge. An almost sisyphean endeavour to "git gud". This is a bit more of an interesting comparison, to quote: "Theresia at times almost feels like a Soulslike; an experience where the player is made to suffer together with the protagonist of the game" But, is the suffering of a player through the medium of a character just emblematic of media in general? Perhaps i am thinking too much on this, or maybe... Not enough... Link contains spoilers for the plot of Theresia: Dear Emille https://stealthoptional.com/article/theresia-is-the-nintendo-ds-dark-souls-that-welcomes-your-suffering #DS #Nintendo #HorrorGames
