Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) is fairly standard #Ghostbusters fare, from the #McKennaGrace 'next generation' movie series rather than from the all-female re-make. There are all of the hallmarks there, from the siren on the hearse to Slimer. The baddie is suitably Ancient. New Yorkers are still New Yorkers. And the Ghostbusters have traps on drones. It's a little thin on the Venkman quips, but the original characters aren't supposed to be the main stars here. That I spent a while after the movie had finished thinking what they could do next in a few years, with Grace an adult, and the facility in Staten Island available, indicates that the series has not yet reached its limit. But: no trilogies, please. This is about the right rate for these movies. And Ackroyd is right about having less of the original cast in whatever movie comes next.
