Autumn Colours
The beginning of October, and the first snow is yet to arrive in eastern Iceland.
The forecast is for a lovely day, so we set out early for somewhere we'd never visited before. An immense canyon, revealed by the diversion and reduction of a river, filled filled from bank to bed with "stuðlar" - basalt columns.
With its banks heavily wooded and clothed in the colours of autumn, this is Stuðlagil canyon.
