I think, instead of buying a Steam Machine, I'll get a prebuilt PC for about the same money. It'll have significantly more performance and I don't rely on the form factor or the console-like features anyway. Unfortunately, I'm not terribly well-versed in what combo of hardware makes most sense, and I'm not sure how reliable all those websites with FPS estimators are.
