#Jizo #Bodhisattva Seated Statue, Kencho-ji, #Japan. The first of #Kamakura's five temples and the head temple of the Kenchoji school of Rinzai sect. It is a temple with a long history, founded by Doryu Rankei, a Zen monk from the Southern Song Dynasty, and Tokiyori Hojo, the fifth regent of the #Kamakura Shogunate. After being damaged by the Great #Kamakura Earthquake in 1293, the monk, Ichinei Ilzan, directed its reconstruction.
