Lol. Princeton University praised Nobel laureate Anne Carson, a former classics professor at the school, on social media, despite denying her tenure in the 1980s. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/08/books/anne-carson-nobel-prize-princeton-university-tenure-denied.html?unlocked_article_code=1.HVE.h0nZ.bAjwq_pjmYiS&smid=nytcore-ios-share

My favourite version of the standard "Estate" (Bruno Martino) by Ray Brown Trio. Benny Green's piano improvisation is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsU9AnsWauU #JukeboxFridayNight #PianoMusic #music

Joni Mitchell Harry's House/Centerpiece Although not technically a piano piece, I have always loved the piano solo in the Centerpiece part of this wonderfully illustrated song by Joni. #PianoMusic#JukeboxFridayNighthttps://youtu.be/GeDmeIgOlKg

“The ‘Mecca Pact’ Exposed: A Muslim Alliance Fighting Yemen with Israel’s Help” by Robert Inlakesh in The Palestine Chronicle @palestine@fedibird.com @Palestine@masto.ai@palestine@lemmy.ml @iran@iraq@mastodon.social@palestinenews@gts.liberated.press “Pakistan and Turkiye have declared their intention to back Saudi Arabia in its war on Yemen, implementing the mutual defense clause embedded within the recently signed ‘Mecca Pact’. Originally portrayed as the emergence of a Sunni Muslim NATO, it now attacks a Sunni Muslim-majority nation using US weapons and Israeli intelligence” https://www.palestinechronicle.com/the-mecca-pact-exposed-a-muslim-alliance-fighting-yemen-with-israels-help/ #Press #SocialMedia #Journalism #Gaza #PalestinianGenocide #Zionism #SettlerColonialism #Resistance #EradicateZionism #DecolonizePalestine #GlobaliseTheIntifada #Iran #War #Trump #Israel #Lebanon #Hezbollah #MeccaPact #Turkiye #Pakistan #Yemen #AnsarAllah

For this week's jukebox music theme, Piano Music, we need some laughs. So here they are, courtesy of Victor Borge, who played the silliest piano concerts and had a lot of fun with the instrument. I feel it's wrong that there hasn't been an episode of Doctor Who with Sir David Attenborough in it.

When the kittens were small, I thought my fist was roughly cat-head sized and shaped and so might be easier for them to relate to than an entire human, so I’d hold out my fist for them to investigate and get comfortable with. And it worked. Except friendlykitten has developed a habit of not just sniffing it but full-on headbutting my finger with his nose. Walks up, sniffs fist, hits closest finger as hard as he can with his nose, then consents to scritches. This cannot be good for his nose. He’s also basically full cat sized now. I might have to stop calling him a kitten.

#PianoMusic#JukeboxFridayNight I thought I was done for the night, but YouTube reminded me that Donald Fagen plays beautiful piano. He often calls in session musicians for various parts, though, including piano. The credits on the album say Fagen is playing piano on this song. “The US springboarded its regime change in Iraq from Saudi Arabia and its Persian Gulf allies, working alongside them to collapse one government after another across the region. Now it is targeting Iran in order to take out the only nation on earth that backs up resistance factions across the region. Hence the propaganda aimed at convincing people that Sunni and Shia Muslims should be at war, it is a trick aimed at convincing populations across West Asia to kill each other in order to strengthen Israel and US regional hegemony” quoting Robert Inlakesh in “The ‘Mecca Pact’ Exposed: A Muslim Alliance Fighting Yemen with Israel’s Help” in The Palestine Chronicle https://www.palestinechronicle.com/the-mecca-pact-exposed-a-muslim-alliance-fighting-yemen-with-israels-help/ @palestine@fedibird.com @Palestine@masto.ai@palestine@lemmy.ml @iran@palestinenews@gts.liberated.press#Press #SocialMedia #Journalism #Gaza #PalestinianGenocide #Zionism #SettlerColonialism #EradicateZionism #DecolonizePalestine #GlobaliseTheIntifada #Iran #War #Trump #Israel #MeccaPact #Pakistan #Turkiye #Saudi #US #Yemen #AnsarAllah #Houthi

#PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight Nick Cave - Into my arms I was first aware of Nick Cave as the manic, king-goth singer of the Birthday Party, and I used to see him occasionally at gigs and stuff, looking very moody and stern. I saw him a few years back in Bournemouth. It was his 60th, and the audience spontaneously sang Happy Birthday to him. It was a sweet moment https://youtu.be/LnHoqHscTKE?is=fQCYGZcmTvLFImJS

The theme for #JukeboxFridayNight is #pianomusic. I'm going to start with Digital Underground - Doowutchyalike. Really. If your fun isn't stopped by a fade by a radio dj around the three-and-a-half minute mark, you'll get to enjoy a Shock G piano solo about five minutes in to the extended cut. https://youtu.be/5P4WZHlHsyk #digitalunderground #soundsoftheunderground

tweaked /usr/pkg/etc/sysupgrade.conf and now sysupgrade auto works for me. I should probably write down what I changed #NetBSD

#JukeboxFridayNight#PianoMusic Pick from one of my favorite band, of course. Evergrey - Till Dagmar https://musiccloud.io/5vKwdwBZ
