Played and worked with computers for the better part of four decades. I often make mistakes, and I like to think I can also make amends when they happen. All part of the human condition.

I believe both cats and dogs deserve our affection and admiration, each for their own unique traits. People are sort of like that as well, we're all in this together and with the exception of some truly horrible people in history I want to believe we are all trying our best to figure things out as we go.

Being a positive influence for my family, riding adventure motorcycles, cybersecurity, and programming things are among my greatest passions.

Generally speaking, I really got no f*ckin' clue, but I'm an optimist so I think I've got that going for me?

Soooo…you spend a few billion on research, data centres, electricity, and all it can do is write a program that mostly works. If I spent a few billion on people to look for bugs in old code, I’d probably have some success as well, I guess AI better start to “worry” about people taking away their…jobs? Please stop the hype and fantastic headlines, there’s some great things happening with MACHINE LEARNING, and it’s overshadowed by click bait.

Enabling "Summarize this email", in Outlook Web is roughly the equivalent of paying for Cole's Notes to avoid reading a novel in high school - sure you might pass the exam, but long-term you're not really learning much.

Companies that accept a job application and subsequently put you on their mailing list for ads is tacky and unprofessional, however, it has begun to highlight for me what companies to stay away from so is this a win?

Replying to @taylorparizo@infosec.exchange
@taylorparizo@infosec.exchange eyeballing fluent bit, but I have not taken the plunge. I’ve used Vector for Zeek and OpenSearch in development and it was quite solid.

Not sure who needs to hear this. If you're going to use "AI" to review job applicants, then review your entire process and make certain that statements such as "we value your application", don't come across as tone-deaf transactional process that is simply checking boxes. Periodically sample why the AI is refusing applicants and perhaps have the AI share that insight with the applicant, consider it a way to help out a stranger and make any future applications worth your time. I fear a lot of companies that are in a leading position can't recognize the growing danger of allowing AI-HR tools to run the hiring process, and will soon find themselves in a business culture of clones that lack the sort of skills that make a company capable of managing the successes and the crisses that eventually arrive. #ai #hr #hiring
