@p357@mastodon.com.pl I've just had a proper look. I was out walking around taking photos with my 500cm which, by a bizarre coincidence, has a *very* similar light leak! I've been testing my hypothesis that I have an issue with the mirror bumper/ light seal that seals around the mirror in the up position. I'm testing by taking photos in bright sun with the viewfinder closed. You could do a similar test, cover the viewfinder.

@anderseknert@swecyb.com there was a very insidious , and mildly successful promotion via premier league footballers here in the UK about 5 to 10 years ago. Lip cancer is unpleasant though, and I think they got nukes by vapes.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange that's the most use I've seen a CCNA put to too. Of course, the CISSP course book would fit nicely in that space, and would be doing far more good than any CISSP in history ever has.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I feel like "why am I seeing this" needs to be baked into the web/app experience. If someone has thrown 20 tags on a post, finding the one it came from can be annoying (I mean, I'm muting them anyway, but still, some hash tags hit a threshold where they get interesting to spammers).

I call this one "Badly Framed Guitar", missed it by a couple of inches! I'd forgotten my loupe, this was just down the road from our house and I was rushing as the people in the house were chatting by their front door.

Dev'ed my two walkabout rolls (chilled dev 2 or three degrees below target and adjusted time as it warmed up, there come out fine).
The new #EnsignCameo seems to be light leak free at least. 1/25s shutter and aperture seem good too going by exposures (everything pretty much metered out at 1/25th, walk only lasted 90mins). Focus looks basically good, won't be certain until I scan them.
The MPP photos look nice too, will be fun to compare (used some of the same xcenes)

Most of these toy cameras are ridiculously over priced, but honestly, for £50, this is quite a lot of camera!
(full frame and half frame, pinhole and a meniscus lens, has bulb mode as well as a shutter speed, zone focus, and selectable aperture)

Took Ensign Cameo no. 2 for a walk and a test today. Fitted the new ground glass, the glass worked well. The camera does need a bit more work, but at least I'll find out if there are any major light leaks. PanF, so I can really check focus was OK and see how sharp the lens is.

I decided to order a couple of 3/8ths arca plates. A few of my cameras use 3/8ths. On the Micro flex the little 1/4 thread adapter sits slightly proud so the camera also sites on that on a tripod plate, which is weird.
Also, the MPP is just huge. While I trust the thread inserts, I also think having a completely solid thread to the camera is going to be better.
Probably a waste of money, but worth a go.

@jik@federate.social I have been moaning for decades that software engineering did not really deserve to be called engineering. We occasionally eeked our way toward something approaching it, but most practice never looked anything like a formal engineering process (we just liked the creativity too much, and thought we were smarter than we were). More fool me. I didn't realise the response to "engineering is hard and boring" would be "lets stop pretending and just ask the magic 8-ball".

Honestly though, I think Jess Philips going has killed Starmers chances of hanging on. People like her. It seems like it's all kicking off pretty fast, too fast to get Burnham in place. @davidgerard@circumstances.run "the surviving companies will hire the people who know how shit works to clean up", anyone thinking that clearly hasn't worked in tech. I've been in this shit for over 30 years, no one gets paid to clear up anything. It's rare for a company with paying customers to care if their product is rubbish. This becomes truer the more the customer pays. (and prices charged are rarely proportional to the quality of the product.

@Yuvalne @mvsde yeah, I'm not sure where LWN getting DDoS'd regularly helps the boring net survive. Or how eyes being diverted to plagiarised copies of the stuff people go out of their way to create helps build communities of interest, (for fun or profit). I appreciate the sentiment of the post, but I've never given two F's about the death of facebook of twiiter. Stuff moves on, it was always inevitable. But the death of search will kill independent community creation.

@bosak d76 1+3 is probably what started me down a developer rabbit hole. I started off reusing stock d76, then tried 1+1, and then really liked the results with 1+3.

@robpike@hachyderm.io this is baffling. With a stolen phone this appears to be trivially exploitable. The idea that "it's not being exploited so we don't need to fix it", is crazy. It's not being exploited because no one has bothered commoditising the exploit *yet*.

@anderseknert this was part of a fosdem presentation (https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/SUVS7G-lets_end_open_source_together_with_this_one_simple_trick/) That's not to say the approach isn't viable, it probably is.

@filippo I'm still firmly in the camp of those believing that QC is largely stock market manipulation and a snake oil fuelled research grant grift... BUT... Equally, if we have the post-QC crypto math, it only makes sense to use it. I don't see thee downside.
