@mojo@aus.social And the best part? According to IMF research tat studied policies of hundreds of countries policies and the results over the last inflationary episode, it turns out trying to control inflation with interest rates doesn’t actually work when it’s caused by external factors (which it is clearly here, and I reckon is actually the case most of the time…). So they’re hurting Aussie families for no reason! https://www.imf.org/en/publications/wp/issues/2025/10/24/navigating-the-2022-inflation-surge-571068

Apparently it’s “incorrect” to believe that higher interest rates could increase inflation, the RBA says. Funny, an IMF study found actually that hiking rates *did* worsen the 2022-2025 inflation episode, with countries that did it ending up with higher peak inflation and it taking longer before inflation started to drop (after the external drivers actually causing it eased). https://www.imf.org/en/publications/wp/issues/2025/10/24/navigating-the-2022-inflation-surge-571068 #inflation #interestrates

Incredible to see the #RBA pontificating on people “not understanding interest rates” for being the reason nobody trusts them. Not the decades of policy error after policy error only making things worse. 🤦‍♂️ https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07-22/understanding-inflation-would-help-lower-interest-rates-rba/106944486

@decryption@aus.social Haha going full sicko with RF capture is actually something that’s on my todo list! My parents had a bunch of family videos (Hi8 format) converted to DVD but I hope RF could do a better conversion - they lose tracking every now and then and also I hope it’s be possible to do a better deinterlace

@theprivacydad@social.linux.pizza That’s what I was hearing from various teenage children of my cousins in Sydney back at Christmas (older cousins’ kids are around that age range). Stuff like “oh she was really sad that she lost her old account” from the parents. They didn’t care that their kids all had new accounts that pretend to be older, both the kids and parents were openly saying that’s what was happening!

@chad @harald It was a supported distribution channel that just today I find out they seem to have randomly abandoned with zero warning or notice, while they’ve been releasing updates for critical vulnerabilities elsewhere. Thousands of their customers will be relying on this like we were, I’m really quite shocked at Ubiquiti here!

@chad Hmm, weird, mine uses the Debian repo and for some reason that's still at 10.0.162... Anyway, just shut it down, I don't actually need it running unless my APs lose power and restart, but the UPS should take care of that.

@TechConnectify@mas.to @RyDawg@mstdn.ca Could you use the 240V and an autotransformer to generate the split phase? Like this - https://www.victronenergy.com/autotransformers/autotransformers ? (see the diagrams in the datasheet). Although I guess the 240V mode might be 50 Hz for Europe, Australia etc. so that could cause some problems?

@TechConnectify@mas.to @lambda@chaosfurs.social @agocs@hachyderm.io Yes, I would expect so. It’s not that hard to design a bidirectional inverter/charger, they’re used in stationary battery storage systems too (off-grid, etc.).

@leif_oke@techhub.social @calcifer@hackers.town @lambda@chaosfurs.social @TechConnectify@mas.to Deal with it in what way? It’d just be standard 230VAC 50 Hz single phase output in most countries. I would expect the inverter in the car can likely charge from and deliver power to either 110V/60Hz or 230V/50Hz. Probably just a software setting. Then you just need an adaptor with the right plug. Either that, or they would have a special version for US/Japan etc. that use 110V.
