@evacide@hachyderm.io I heard that in Soviet times people would go far away from their telephone and keep the water running to make it hard for the government to understand their private conversations. So, in the future, keep your wearable device in another room, with the door shut, and leave the faucet running non-stop. It is a small price to pay, for giving a corporate CEO a big bonus.

@kouett@soc.kouett.net.eu.org A more realistic trolley problem: There are children threatened by disease and/or starvation: should you (a) let the government program continue and save their lives, or (b) start a performative stunt to take the government funding and use it to subsidize your business ventures that increase pollution causing extra deaths? Guess what the right answer would be in an MBA ethics class?

@danirabbit@mastodon.online Is there a way of detecting bot scrapers and generating low-level slop for them? I'm trying to think of ways to speed up model collapse. Similarly, I encourage everyone to post code samples with buffer overflow vulnerabilities, etc. If we can attach that to AI optimization, we can make vibe coding output execrable. My goal is to make vibe coding widespread, so that the existing platforms crash and burn, and are impossible to fix. It is our only chance to survive the idiocracy (kakistocracy).

A modest proposal. The billionaires want ubiquitous surveillance and the data centers. We don't. They have also been building large enclaves to keep normal people out. How about, we put all the flock cameras and data centers in the billionaire enclaves?

Or is this the part of historical correctness Elon was missing in the Odyssey?

@ombialik@mastodon.world That is part of the reason why law and medicine jargon is mainly Latin. I have thought for a long time that a large part of academia is creating a jargon that separates the in group from the out group. There is some justification for using concise and precise language, but it is over done. I think Mathematics is the epitome of jargon...

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org I've seen this coming for a while. Promising, with no evidence, that AI doctors will be a boon. Frequently, it is phrased as giving medical advice to people without access to MDs. It is easy to see that, once they are introduced for the poorest, suddenly they will become a "cost effective" alternative for working class, then middle class. In the end, only the very wealthy will have medical care. Everyone else gets a magic 8 ball.
