Having just had a new #solar and #battery system installed at home, there's a high chance of stats and system updates being posted.

Picked up a little light reading material to hopefully help me get a better handle on IPv6. I still consider myself an absolute novice. I have working IPv6 at home but I confess I really don't understand all the "nerd knobs" that make it work. Plus, this might even give me enough of an understanding to start making a case for it at $dayjob. Right now, I don't understand it well enough for that. #ipv6

"It's too hot"!!!! For the last couple of days I've been starting work an hour early to try to avoid the heat of the afternoon a little. Today I remembered to log off at 16:00. To be fair, that was kinda forced on me because our little home office was 32.5°C and I was having trouble focusing on $dayjob. When you're working on the Cisco cli, that's a recipe for disaster, so I called it quits before I accidentally pushed something into prod. We're due for another day of much the same tomorrow and then again on Friday (Saturdays but looking great either) but we're also not getting any cool weather or wind to help pull the heat out of the house overnight so it's been gradually increasing. I'm really looking forward to a high of 19°C on Sunday

@solar_chase@mastodon.green yeah, sorry, this is the way. We specifically bought 2 matching beds (ours and the guest room) so we could get one size of bedding for both and yet somehow we seem to be magically creating bedding we don't recognise that doesn't fit and it's always what's first at hand, no matter how much of the non fitting stuff we seem to donate to charity.

So, it turns out, that if you want a dual stack OpenBSD box, operating as a relayd proxy, to be able to talk to another server on the same VLAN using IPv6, you kinda need some pf firewall rules to allow inbound IPv6 stuff for it to work. You know, stuff like neighbour discovery works much better when the packets can actually arrive at the interface.

I've been fighting this weirdness, on and off, for months and in the end just used legacy IP for the back haul instead. I had an epiphany just now while adding relayd config for another backend server in a different VLAN that just worked over IPv6.

I was always convinced it was a "me" problem, as nobody else seemed to have issues. Turns out I was just looking in the wrong place (my relayd config) all along.

@anon_opin@mastodon.social during one of our previous house moves, the buying and selling solicitors insisted that all communications between them "must" be handle view registered post. We found out later, they were located opposite each other on the same street. They could have just walked across the road saving time and cost.

@catbailey@infosec.space we've watched 4 hours of the official stream this evening and it's been amazing but alas we need to get some sleep at some point tonight so have thrown in the towel. Will likely catch-up again in the morning

We've been watching the Artemis 2 live stream for almost 4 hours now and it's just amazing to see how much better the comms and video equipment is compared to the Apollo missions.

The amount of data available through sites like the one below is just astonishing.
