and I have to say that I was already happy with what I'd heard of what @blueteamvillage@defcon.social has been doing the past few years I've been away doing renovations on myself, but I ended up actually breaking down crying when I heard about how unutterably awesome they've become.
I couldn't be prouder, and I'm looking forward to contributing to next year's tenth(?!!!) anniversary.

had an absolutely -fantastic- time showing up and vortexing the hell out of the place; a couple people actually did recognize me; some people had a visibly hard time placing who they were talking to for a moment (😈)...but the funniest reaction to "hey it's munin showing off her new biometrics" was definitely @malwarejake@infosec.exchange who was visibly startled to realize who the tall chick was talking to him.
absolutely warmed my heart :3

and ofc seeing @rand0h@defcon.social for the tenth anniversary of Whose Slide Is It Anyway was awesome.....
and then he let me close out the show :3
Couldn't have asked for a better welcome back, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next horrific abomination @Ajediday@infosec.exchange and company throw my way.
(seriously, tho, I've been using that damned colors deck as the prime example for "those bastards can be incredibly sadistic with their slides" for years now lol)

@skytalks@defcon.social was, as per usual, absolutely incredible and the fact that they gave me a room full of people to talk to - again! they know what happened last time! - is pretty awesome and I'm always grateful for the opportunity to take advantage of the audience's sunk-cost fallacy for having to jump through hoops to get in ;-)

as a blue teamer who works, currently, in behavioral detections, this article is a maddening series of one "this should have been caught by a competent monitoring setup" after another.
this huggingface hack looks to have been less difficult than most CTFs.

the fun part about this is that datacenters are not fungible in the slightest, and have extraordinarily long lead times and very complex logistical requirements.
any state hosting them can implement extra taxes, well above the norm, and the operators will be forced to pay them, because there's really no alternative available for the business they're doing.

this combined with understaffing has made for an absolutely miserable shopping experience when I end up having to visit those stores.
the worse practice is when they take the locked items and put them in the grooming ghetto, so you have to enter into this enclave within the store to buy a package of fucking razors while under close supervision of an underpaid employee, and then purchase the items at the register inside the toiletries vault, separate from your other shopping.
this experience sucks. cut it out you fucking capitalist scum

like, if you look hard and trace back enough, you can sometimes figure out the jumping off point where things when sideways and they went from a 'normal' idea into the depths of candyland's circus peanuts factory and started trying to 'optimize' for that shit, but it's -exhausting- to try to think it through

and that's one of the problems with the LLM thing - damn fool machine will not contradict people's plans, but will keep yes-anding, so when they decide to implement something in a bespoke and bullshit manner the fool thing enables their nonsense instead of pointing to any actual resources on how to do the thing correctly and maybe discussing concepts like "hey maybe have a risk analysis from an actual professional on the implications of making this shit public"

prompt engineering is kayfabe.
I am not a fucking mark, so I do not fucking believe in the 'guardrail' horseshit that these shit-eaters spew about how comprehensive their 'protections' are, when those 'protections' consist of playing kayfabe games with the fucking text mangler.
nor do you need 'ai' to defend against this shit; the fundamentals of "actually doing RBAC" still fucking work.

so a thing about high-follower accounts and other people who seem to be famous and intimidating?
if you interact with them like they're a normal person, they -really- appreciate it, and will sometimes even specifically mention this.
Quoting
#PSA I've noticed that the bigger my circles get here, the fewer people seem to feel comfortable casually reaching out to me.
I swear, I'm just a person, and actually pretty approachable 💁🏼♀️
Worry brain:
"We admit we're a bit intimidated by you, as you're kind of a big deal to us and others."
"I still can't believe you talk(ed) to me."
Reality brain:
"Thanks, Alice, for always being so helpful and approachable."
"10/10 would boop with permission."
I can't speak for all big accounts, but I wouldn't be here if I didn't want to socialize with people.
You never know who's DTB (down to boop) if you don't talk to them.
