Hey, #Aarhus, we're hiring at my dayjob, so if you're an embedded software engineer, it might be for you. We get a wide range of projects from industrial monitoring, pumps and motors, to lots of strange IoT devices. We're also #hiring a technician for our workshop which involves lots of different things from #electronics prototype assembly, building various mechanical assemblies, router/3dprint/lathe work, running our pick-and-place machine, and what else shows up.

Today was "bring your dog to work"-day, because I brought my dog to work.
Charlie was on his best behaviour and slept for several hours while still making sure to wake up now and then to look miserable so everyone gave him treats.

@FiJe nej, når folk spørger mig til rækkevidde på bilen (Ioniq 5) er mit svar altid, at jeg kun ville købe andet end el, hvis jeg ofte skulle køre langt med anhænger.

@FiJe 3.9 km / kWh er vel stadig rimelig pænt, hvis vi tager højde for temperatur og sådan. (Det er sjovt: Jeg har ingen intuitiv fornemmelse for kWh / 100 km, men km / kWh giver fint mening. Jeg synes, det er nemmere at arbejde med den enhed, for man køber jo kilowatttimer ("watt" på journalistisk..), og så er det bare at gange op.)

@FiJe man kan se det på elprisen: Er strømmen billig om natten, er det ikke fiskevejr. Vi har haft et par ture til Uggelhuse uden held. Der plejer at være fisk, skaller og aborrer, i lystbådehavnen, hvor man ikke må fiske, men ellers intet held derude.

@FiJe der var pæne sild i havnen i går, men det var ikke overvældende i antal. Den tolvårige gik sin første sild og var henrykt og ville ikke overlade fiskestangen til mig derefter. Vi var egentlig taget ind for at fange skaller, aborrer, og den slags, men der var ingen, og alle andre hev sild op, så vi sadlede om og fik den ene. Stor succes.

@kramse jeg er ikke kommet videre fra min X60, jeg købte i 2006. (: Indrømmet, den laver ikke så meget mere..

I've wanted a #vt100 since I found out about them many years ago, and I finally got one.
This one seems to have been built in 1980. It is in dire need of a good cleaning, but it powers on and provides a nice, clean picture. The keyboard seems fully functional. I don't think it has any of the options like current based comms but that's fine.

Introduced my 15yo to @VOLEwtf@crispsandwi.ch a while ago, and they love it. .. probably because they effortlessly destroyed my Bokeh high score, and I still am nowhere near theirs (99999 or whatever when it stops counting).

Anyway, I bought them the sketch pad from the Vole store, and it just arrived today:

"Daaad?.. I got a parcel from Vole..??"

Looks to be pretty good quality, but the surprise alone was worth it.

At work we had an issue, which ultimately turned out to be a hardware bug where RAM was wired up incorrectly, but so much stuff worked that I kept thinking this was a software issue, because how could memory be bad when pretty much everything worked? Well, not everything ran from the same memory, and caching hid the issue, but things working was a major distraction.

@bagder@mastodon.social @alefunguju@mastodon.social make is one of those things that is just almost good enough, but every attempt to fix it tries to solve a bunch of other issues as well, leading to second system's syndrome. Imagine if someone forked make and just fixed the handful of things that have caused all the other tools..

@oatmeal oh man, I love this! I hate¹ how gen-AI makes the world a poorer place because people can now get things they don't care about much cheaper, so we end up with worse things. When you commission someone to do things, they tend to -care- about what they make and will take care to do it right. Recently a children's book was published here, where the lion had hooves. The publisher didn't notice because, well, they didn't care. A human artist would have cared to get this right, but the world got a book with poor drawings. Subtitles are getting increasingly worse, and it looks like LLM work because it's stuff like using the wrong word because of a lack of context. The movie gets worse because the meaning is distorted so you end up being distracted trying to make sense of it. The thing is.. we are constantly exposed to this slop.. and I worry people are just going to get used to it. The book was retracted and they ended up hiring an illustrator. Next time, who knows. 1) I don't use the word hate lightly but I don't know how else to put it.

Nå, så det var bare almindelig inkompetence som sædvanlig, hvor offentligheden så i øvrigt igen må stole på, at det ikke sker igen.
Det er alligevel imponerende at kunne udelukke slet spil, når man tilsyneladende ikke har fundet årsagen.

@ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org funny coincidence: We have a bunch of crows or ravens at the office, and they seem to have a very regular schedule where they show up in the morning and again in the afternoon, and they walk around looking for food. The other day I started feeding them in front of my window where they often show up and look at me. Great thread, thanks!
