Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll dive into eBay and see what I can find. I want 2 Linux tablets, 1 for myself (reading comics and books since I jumped the Kindle ship long ago, watching my Jellyfin library on the couch, etc),and one to put on the wall as a central command center for my Home assistant. I really appreciate it, because I did let my hate for Microsoft keep me from ever looking in that direction. Thanks so much bud.

I had one of these about 10 years ago. Pretty nice little things. However, since moving to Linux exclusively 8 years ago, I don't miss them at all. Plus, with all the publicly facing bullshit from Microsoft, it blows my kind that people will still spend money on this. Not an Apple fan either, but you can get a very powerful Mac for the sake money.

Just like with proprietary software, there's amazingly dependable FOSS software, and there's garbage. In my experience FOSS is much more reliable when compared to it's proprietary counterparts, with very few exceptions. Seems to me that you've been dealing with the wrong FOSS projects.

Yeah, no, I totally get it. It just blows that people just bends over like this for all the corpo bullshit, users, devs and other companies alike. I have a small business with my wife, and I try to run as much as humanly possible on open source software. I donate to the platforms we use, and for almost 3 years we've gotten away with not giving any money to Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple or any of the other tech giants. It is a Titanic task to keep everything running, for sure, but absolutely worth it. My point is that, if we can do it being so small and barely profitable, I can't imagine larger companies having an issue with moving away from these predatory practices. Then again, I'm not fully aware of what other businesses might require that we can live without comfortably.

Calling others on their bullshit does not equal hating on them. Why do you think CalyxOS had to 'take a break'? Why do you think that The only thing these 'privacy' focused OSs can do about GrapheneOS is say it's geared towards criminals? They have no other way to try and smear them because they're all garbage in comparison. Get your shit straight. GrapheneOS is so fucking awesome that they plugged an actual Linux kernel hole within hours of it being found, whereas it took Google weeks, never mind these Murena and Calyx morons.

I don’t think it will. It’s just another outside audit (no idea if país by meta or not though). It is E2ee, that’s the bottom line. Now, the implementation is what dictates what that’s worth. It’s no different than client-side scanning or Microsoft co-pilot. What’s the point of having e2ee if someone else can get access either before encryption or by a third party, like meta, having a master key to decrypt anyway? The first thing was if there was any indo of e2ee being implemented, there’s plenty, even Cloudflare audited them at one point if I recall correctly. But, nobody knows how it’s implemented, except for meta, and that’s where the lack of trust resides, because we all trust meta as far as we can throw our cars.

They gave payment data to the authorities, because, guess what, they HAVE to provide whatever is subpoenaed. Did they provide emails, IP addresses? Doesn’t say any of that. There’s the option of paying with crypto, but the imbeciles that know they are going to be at risk of being found, paid with a credit or debit card. 404 media is more of the same sensationalism laden bullshit out there. Make a fucking Strom out of a drop of water.

Right. Open road should be more around 770Km. I have a BYD Han 2023 that has a claimed range of 550Km, and I get just about 420Km realistically, at a steady 110Km/h with a few bursts of up to 150Km/h to get away from idiots doing 80 on a 100 (or just to show off the torque to other types of idiots like BMW and some Tesla drivers 😏).

In my experience, usually using Gnome as a DE, every Linux distro is just install, configure to my taste, and use without having to think about my OS ever again (unless I get bored and start changing stuff just because I can, or go in one of my distro-hop fevers). So, I genuinely don’t get what you’re saying, unless you’re being sarcastic, then suddenly it does make sense.

Dude, this idiot is locked on hating on Crapple and making it known to the point of annoyance. I’m following what others did and just blocking that kid (pretty sure anyone over 14 years old would have enough brain power to read the room at this point). I suggest you do the same so that we can all continue that more productive discourse of hating on Windows and Apple for accurate and objective reasons.

I hate Apple because of it’s walled-garden practices, and even I’m tired of your rants about it. Yeah, I would never (again) buy an Apple product, but they know how to mix hardware, software and device integration like nobody else. If we want civil conversation and accurate info, we have to be objective. Additionally, Mac computers have a very specific use case, in my opinion, for everything else, any Linux distro blows Mac and Windows out of the water with not much effort.
