So, YouTube's autoclaims (because there's no way they are actual claims) can be released if the dispute isn't reviewed within 30 days after your appeal. It's bs though that you have to go such process for something that shouldn't occur in the first place (for cases where it's blatant clear that it's a false/baseless claim).

Only now I have realized that I wrote "OpesStreetMap" instead of "OpenStreetMap". Sometimes I wonder how I miss such mistakes, or how I don't realize that I didn't actually write a word which I thought I did (and then I delete and rewrite the whole post if it's possible)..

I've never really understood the usage of the term "designation"/"designated". It looks like a confusing way of saying "signed"/"marked"/"named".

Until we get a new motherboard, for a while I will do stuff from my almost-8-years old laptop. It still works well, even though I barely used it due to the desktop since 2022. Although it has small storage, so I can't put many apps on it. It's the computer I was using when I started mapping in OSM. I try to connect more services and websites onto my laptop again, to start doing stuff I was doing earlier, although many notes are on the other computer which I can't access now, so I will not do as much stuff as I hoped to. It's weird how every 4 years a forceful change of computer usage has to occur... since when I got my first computer in 2006

@jcarlson@mapstodon.space I see this thing for years, with a great increase back in 2020, presumably due to COVID curfews. And the sad thing is that it's really difficult to remove or even change stuff on Google Maps. You can add anything you want, but if you to do any change, even for a small typo, it's pain in the butt, if I ever gets approved by their broken automated system. That's one of the reasons why I started mapping in #OSM, cuz you can edit stuff easily, and you can see who did what and can collaborate with other people for better mapping.

So far the new motherboard seems to work fine. We had an issue reactivating the Windows because the key wasn't linked to my account, so we had to buy a new one. Now comes the tiring part of reconnecting some services (it kept the session for others, even if it was more than a month since I last used them on that pc). I'm too tired from all this 💩, as I said in a previous post, I'm tired of PCs and generally online stuff. One wrong move or non-remembering and half your stuff are nearly gone...Why we created an era where humanity needs to be dependant on such stuff?

So, a mapper who mapped several landuses in my area ("Digitising" as they wrote in the changesets), they attached every single landuse not only to every highway, but also to administrative boundaries. This causes a hella more work for me trying to fix their mistakes, because now I have to check if they accidentally changed the geometry of the boundaries. I don't want to revert their changesets, because they did a good job by adding several missing landuses, even though they did it wrong... Also, I can't simply detach the landuses from the roads and the waterways, I have to adjust them to their proper outlines. They have been already notified for their mistake, although it's kinda demoralising to try and fix all that. It will take a lot of time to do that carefully. #OpenStreetMap

Since the last time I posted about this, I changed only one thing in the computer's setup. I added a small voltage balancer, on the cord extension from the socket, on which the computer's multi-socket connects. So far, only one freeze. I didn't change anything afterwards, it's been 2 full days with no freezes. The only positive difference of the new motherboard in comparison with the previous, is it handles much more smoothly the freezes. A strong negative is the sound card it has, makes the sound not the same as before, and even without the changes its accompanied software (Nahimic) does, it still sounds like off, with hollow bass. It isn't awful, just a bit off-putting.

@jez@mapstodon.space That would be a heck of a change, because I don't think there's any similar thing yet. To automatically non-attaching the nodes of a way with specific tags? And let's not even discuss the cases of tagless ways which exist purely for the relation to attach on. I dunno, this sounds interesting indeed, and would help expand it to other situations if needed, assuming it could be implemented 😁

One week passed without the issue appearing again. At least with all this situation that lasted more than a month, makes one to realize that they need to check also for the power outlet their computer is plugged on, if their computer has sudden freezes/crashes that can't be easily troubleshooted. Because there was never a pattern or anything in any software/hardware troubleshooting we did to denote that somehow the AC unit which was connected to the same power outlet caused issues. Now the computer is on another power outlet. Dunno though why it the initial crash after I did that change, but since it didn't happen again, even without any change afterwards, this is where I'm resting this longstanding case. This doesn't mean everything is back to normal though.

Average Greeks are used mostly in Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Sorta less in X. Mastodon isn't yet known or used by many. I wonder if it's gonna be ever be used enough, so that public services can start posting here aswell. Ok, I wrote this post cuz I saw a tweet (D: forbidden word) from the Hellenic 112 account about a wildfire in Lesbos, and I thought how useful it could be to easily share the 112 announcements in Mastodon instances aswell, without having to copy-paste the text/links, and link directly to the account for anyone to follow.

Isn't it funny when there a mappers who declare themselves as "pro" or "expert", and yet they do some wild changes in #OSM that either don't make sense or touch the area of vandalism. And usually this occurs through organized mapping events. The sad thing is that this is quite common, and the "organized mapping events", even by well-known orgs, don't feel quite organized when you end up with such cases. And the mapped who does the mistake, can be either a random mapper or member of such org. Makes you wonder if they have ever mapped in #OpenStreetMap before or if they have even the basic mindset to understand what they are looking at in the imagery they use during the mapping.

@ticho@mas.to True, it's crazy how many times I spot notes from SC denoting that. They aren't many, but it's still weird, because the UI during that quest, is s simple horizontal bar with three options, and the "No" option is in the middle. And that, doesn't delete the node/way, only the relevant tags of the POI, so tags like address and structure-related, remain.

@InsertUser@en.osm.town That would be a possibility if it was an experienced mapper. And I think having multipolygons for areas such as landuses, is a kinda controversial topic in OSM. At least I found out now that in iD I can easily detach all nodes of a feature with D (yes, I forgot this feature existed there), without having to play multiple times with each node just because iD autoselects the feature I don't want to modify after the detachment. This will save me a bit of time, but it will still be a pain in the butt.

Again the issue appeared later yesterday. Three times. Now our suspicions turn towards the power outlet. On the same socket is also my room's A/C unit. It acts strangely lately, but I'm pretty sure the reason is irrelevant to what happens to the desktop. I changed the multi-sockets connectivity on that socket a bit, and we will try later with a new multi-socket (with voltage balance). Even though my suspicions about the CPU still exist, I hope it is indeed the power outlet's fault. We figured it may be that, due to the way the new motherboard handles the freezes. It freezes for half second before rebooting itself. For the previous motherboard, I had to manually hold the power button to close it.

I have quite few accounts on various platforms for contact, such as Telegram, and generally I'm open to messaging with anyone, but if it's a person I don't know, or doesn't specify from where they got my contact info (or specify a person/website I don't know), I may possibly block them (especially if their profile info don't provide any confidence that they are genuine and not a spammer/scammer). We live in an era of the Internet where socializing online, even in private messages, is sometimes met with spam/scam attempts, even with AI/LLM interference.

Password hints for Windows are always great. It's been years since I had to use it, cuz I always used pin, but pin of Windows is associated with the TPM, which even with a BIOS reset it gets lost.

(one of those nights 😛) Copied a URL to a YouTube video, and wondered why it showed it was deleted (not 404 error), while searching for it showed it actually exists. Turned out the link I copied somehow contained a ZWSP character (zero-width space) at the start of the video's ID, which the Chrome's address bar converted to an actual character, even though it's not visible, and that broke the link to the actual video and redirected to another. And while searching for that, I wanted to see if I could type the ZWSP with the keyboard, but no. Alt codes are pretty limited. But I can copy the character via Chrome's dev console, with copy("\u200B") #youtube #zwsp #chrome #chromium

I have a personal website (of some sort) nearly a decade now, but I haven't utilized it properly (which is why there's no public link yet), because I wanted to find a better host where I would config it entirely. I was thinking for years about the GitHub pages, but considering the shitfuckery of the recent years (thanks Microsoft, you acquiring GitHub certainly helped it...), I have to look for other places. I just heard about Codeberg pages, and since Codeberg is a rising alternative to GitHub, I may do it at some point. @mnalis@mastodon.online @InsertUser@en.osm.town I know JOSM has the solution to everything (and even if it doesn't natively, a plugin would suffice), that's why I specify everywhere (even in my forum profile), that I use iD editor, to avoid the constant "in JOSM you can do it this way", like it's a Linux-injected conversation over Windows stuff, cuz apparently many JOSM users sometimes sound annoying specifying the superiority of it, ignoring most times that there are other editors aswell, and not everyone uses or wants to use JOSM 😛 Sorry for the rant, reading about JOSM in most posts in the forum, even when other editors are being mentioned, it's just tiring 😛
