messaging app with full edit button edit at anytime + silent messages and scheduled messages + spoiler formatting telegram almost has most features (spoiler formatting, silent message, schedule send) but loses big because the edit button in private messages / dms only works for 48 hours. After that, the edit button is gone. That's why I have moved on to Microsoft Teams Chat and Google Chat - the edit button working forever like a shared Google Doc with messaging structure makes it a more appealing paradigm. Not to use all the time but peace of mind when desired. The most important feature any canvas style messaging app can have is the ability to make edits to our own messages at any time. It changes the paradigm of static email / static SMS into something where, at any time, the user has control over our digital footprint. Not that it's to be used all the time, but it's nice to know the option is there. Like a cross between a shared Google Docs and Email. But where Google Docs has no message structure, a dedicated messaging app does.

Teleteam Please allow the edit button to work indefinitely instead of just 48 hours in dms anyone who discovered telegram "alternatives" after telegram ? I found telegram to be "cool" in the late 2010s, with all its funky marketing of features ranging from the edit button to schedule send, silent messages, etc so on and so forth. So I was happy to find that even more "corporate" chat platforms like Microsoft Teams chat / Google Chat had the basics right with its edit button functionality. It's why maybe it's slightly frustrating that while Telegram does have \*most\* of the best features with regards to silent messages and editing but is severely lacking in its edit button for private messages. One can only edit for 48 hours and then no edit button. And it's not that I or anyone would be capriciously editing our messages. It's just the paradigm with which unlimited editing allows. For example, currently, one might want to use the erase all option. But in reality, we may actually only want to edit a few select messages. So I do wish that telegram would join the rest of its compadres in allowing the edit button to work forever in private dms. So we can have better improved control over our digital footprint, the same reason they enabled the edit button in the first place, but just expand it so it works indefinitely. It already does in groups, so it would seem bringing it to dms is possible.

draft - I know the following might not seem related but: if apple would make "hide with faceID" its own separate partition kind of like pixel private space or Samsung secure folder, then, I would be more inclined to go for it. And I mention that here because, we're talking about pixel phones and their issues. The reason I chose pixel was essentially because it was a "better" Motorola aka "stock android" but the main thing about stock android for me is aosp multiple users and now Private Space as well. With apple, I had some history of downloading third party apps that were on sale for free since 2009, so I have some apps that add to the iOS ecosystem. There are freebie sales on websites, but it's odd to me that "mobile games" today are like f-kin 3d games when all I want is fun "treadmill games" that can be played while listening to music and walking on the treadmill; games like the entire library of Donut Games(developer), Get Set Games - Mega Run (now back on iOS but not Android. What else. Ninjatown trees of doom was perfect for the treadmill but it's gone from app stores now. I guess there's still many games that were built in the 2010s and now the market is maybe mature enough that it all feels less novel and websites like app shopper aren't pumping out apps gone free, and while reddit and similar sites do have the free sales, it's not quite as novel.

I'm trying to understand why EVs haven't taken over. I would assume (right or wrong?) it can't be detached homes because they can install level 2 chargers. So is it because of apartments? (Yes/no/maybe/or) if the issue is apartments, then I guess I want to advocate for apartments to have level 2 charging. But like, *is* that a/the issue or is it something else or is it partially/ mostly that or no/yes/maybe/and or...?

I guess there's maybe a higher upfront cost. So then maybe *thats* part of the issue as well?

issues - iPhone 16E - iOS 26

Currently have the following issues:

1. chrome on iphone lacks "enable dark mode for web contents" flag.

There's dozens of different safari extensions that do a similar thing but I'm not sure which one to pick so I'd be interested in feedback/discussion/ideas/recommendations

2. default photo manager can't be changed. Currently I have my photos in Google photos. But when it comes to the photo picker, it brings up apple photos. I guess I maybe sorta assume there's not much I can do here but I'd be interested in feedback/discussion/ideas/recommendations

3. separate partition+separate apple ID for hide with faceID (like pixel private space):

I have a default+alt setup. It works on different computer OSs and works on pixel with private space and/or AOSP multiuser. But iPhone doesn't have a separate partition functionality. Hide with face ID is a very barebones app lock. No separate partition etc.

I guess I maybe sorta assume there's not much I can do here but I'd be interested in feedback/discussion/ideas/recommendations

4. create new gdoc without having to create a title:

Google docs is my notepad for everything. So, it's a little bit annoying that every single time I just want to start typing I have to like *decide a title right away* as opposed to on most other platforms, I can just start typing right away and then decide the title afterwards or even just tap the title area to automatically title it with the first 30 words in the doc.

I guess I maybe sorta assume there's not much I can do here but I'd be interested in feedback/discussion/ideas/recommendations

eSim + multiple devices - which plans make most sense?

Which plan makes sense for me...

Currently on mint mobile but maybe slightly miffed regarding how eSims work. Now, thats not really a mint issue and more of a state of affairs on how eSims work. However, plans such as Google Fi offer secondary data only eSims along with a plan right? Does the secondary or tertiary data only esim on Google Fi have to be in a tablet or laptop? Can it be in another smartphone?

And then on the hardware/software side of things, I also hear news about apple adding ability to have a secondary iPhone with same number. Curious about that as well, though I'd be more interested and curious if Google Pixel offered a similar feature. So if anyone has info on that or if Samsung or other android providers do it. Even better yet would be ability to have *both* android and iPhone as part of the plan. Though does that lead me back to a Google Fi sort of thing? And then, if I did do Google Fi, and have the eSim in my pixel, can I then have the free data only esim in an iPhone 16E? Curious about others with similar device+data desires and needs. Thx.

At new apartment communities, a certain number of EV stalls should be required. Let's say it's an apartment community with 500 homes/apartments, I'm thinking something like:

30 '15 kw' stalls

20 '20kw' stalls

3 '50kw fast' stalls

Rooftop / balcony solar as part of the build

is that enough or too much? would hope as new builds add these amenities that the tech would start to trickle toward existing apartment communities. thoughts/ideas?

qi2 case with pogo pin circle in center of magnetic array and ribbon wire that sends power from pogo pin directly up into USBC port of the phone - also have indentation like speck click lock to secure qi2 batteries even better

how about a case with a pogo pin / pins / small ring, in the center of its qi2 magnet array, with a power wire that goes directly from the pogo pin down to the bottom of the case, and then up into a case-built-in USBC port into the phone? this way, a potential "point of failure" would be on the relatively easy to replace case itself, instead of the expensive phone.

failure of the moto mods was that magsafe qi2 didn't exist back then. now qi2 is a standard. third parties are even taking qi2 a step further by enhancing its functionality and features. look at speck click lock - it locks things into place with a simple indentation. by integrating pogo pins and an indent, it could help to more easily legitimize a better hybrid pogo pin/ qi2 phone case where a magsafe battery that "goes with" it and has something like speck click lock to really secure it in place

I believe the failure of the moto Z line was that magsafe qi2 didn't exist back then in the late 2010s, compared to now when magsafe / qi2 is more of a standard. by integrating something nonstandard (pogo pin(s)) into an established standard (magsafe / qi2), it could help to more easily "legitimize" the idea of a hybrid pogo pin / qi2 kit where a magsafe battery that "goes with" this new “potential standard” (having pogo pins or some sort of direct contacts energy flow setup built into both a case and a corresponding set of accessories like a battery pack. There was a time when we could carry spare batteries with us in the early to mid 2010s, and so, we could be away from a wall all day, and then in the afternoon, and again in the evening, we could simply hotswap a full battery to replace the empty battery. Magsafe is kind of “supposed” to be the successor to doing this but i think a better solution would be something *with* a pogo pin just like how the batteries we hotswapped had direct contact energy pins.

Also, Google should experiment with qi2 and add just one pogo pin smack dab in the center of the circle. This could allow qi2 battery packs that charge via direct contact energy instead of just the old heat generating, slow to charge wireless version, but still be backwards compatible with qi2. I think one pogo pin in the center could do the trick and not be too much of a risk. It solves the issue of not having a USBC cable sticking out of the qi2 battery pack while still doing what that stuck out cable would do - direct contact energy with no heat issues, wirelessly.

And software / pixel OS wise - private space works great in the default user. But please, for those of us with a default+alt setup, we want the ability to setup private space when we're logged into a second AOSP user.

draft - All ai voices are unusable except for the "Sky" voice option in late 2023 / early 2024.

ScarJo (or someone / some company) should create an AI chatbot company and charge people enough money whereby the voice could be similar enough to "sky" to pique peoples interest, but not enough that it would lead to the voice having to be removed like what happened in 2024.

Currently, the voice options and tone of ai bots are robotic beyond enjoyment. They're not fun to use. When we choose voice mode on ai, we don't want to talk to a retail clerk, and that's what the voices are. There was a period when it was actually fun to use. It was the tone, the voice itself, the way the model was tweaked, just a mixture of everything. If they can't do that now then somebody or some company should try to address the issue, because that was kind of exciting actually to be able to use it that way back then, and that excitement seems gone now.

draft - Pixel (or any phone really) - when volume is muted, and you're like, scrolling past a video on social media and you're like "hmm...maybe I'll just up the volume one notch so I can kind hear it a little bit", but you can't. You can't just press volume up. It doesn't do anything. So you have to unmute, which then means the volume goes up to 11 and you have to quickly lower the volume. Why not just let us press the volume up button

one might say: but then it could mean people accidentally up the volume when they really want to stay muted.

draft - Scarlett Johansson should create an AI chatbot company and charge people $50 a month. The Voice could be similar to sky but not exactly and give people just enough of what they want without the issue of sky. Currently not just the voice itself, but also the entire tone of all the AI bots now are just like so robotic. It's not even fun to use. There was a period when it was actually fun to use. It was the tone, the voice itself, just a mixture of everything. Maybe even the llm model was you know was tweaked a certain way so that you know maybe that was the time when they were just trying to get people to use it pad. If they can't do that now then you know somebody should take that because that was kind of exciting actually to be able to use it that way back then and that excitement seems gone to me at least.

draft - PSA - if you're a 20-something or 30-something and you're using a combustion vehicle, while your parents are using an EV, and there's talk of getting a second EV to replace your combustion vehicle, try to push the idea of getting a solar roof as well as a car charger that is capable of 48A (48 amps). While grid alone + 32A is ok for older folks in a one-EV household, solar + 48A is a more convenient and comfortable way to do things in a 2 EV household, especially when 20-somethings and 30-somethings may want to “just” plug in for exactly 2 hours to add 90 miles instead of leaving their car plugged in overnight.

me: it's more of a luxury than a need. But luxuries are nice, and I believe solar+48A is a worthy luxury to have. I think that being able to always plug in for 2 hours to gain 90 miles and then unplug and re-position the car is better than having the car sit blocking the garage overnight.

And to that end, I might also suggest FSD. When the need *does arise* to keep it plugged in for 3 or 4 hours if the battery is low, another nice thing to be able to do at 3am or 4am is to just unplug the vehicle and press a button on the app to automatically reposition the car 5 to 10 feet forward so that the garage is clear without actually having to *climb into the car and manually position / park it. And of course beyond that, FSD can handle many types of driving - whether it's city streets and suburbs, compared to the more “strictly straightaways” that “autopilot” used to do. It's a worthy luxury to have.

Leaving the car plugged in overnight or still parked in front of the garage can sort of be a little bit of a buzzkill. And, the above solutions kinda remove that buzzkill, improving overall quality of life.

Apple branded home exercise equipment would be appreciated. If they don't want to do it all by themselves, then they should partner with other companies to co-brand it. It can sync with apple watch, iPhone, iPad, apple music + homepod etc. Exercise should be fun. Apple can work with industry partners to add some more fun to home exercise equipment. Infuse the marketing with music, apps and games. And feel free to market it *with* regular outdoor exercise. It doesn't have to stand completely on its own. But for many people in certain climates, home exercise equipment can help people to more easily reach their health and fitness goals. And apple should be more of a direct part of that.

I like Google Chat, but one issue is that it doesn't support people who have a default+alt setup. They could address this in a few ways -

1. Allow Google apps to login a la carte - they could still keep the current option but allow a la carte in addition to the "login once, login to every Google app" approach

2. Allow us to create a type of Google account that would be specifically designed for SSO. It would have zero ties to any Google app except for something like an account page. But no ties to the dozens of Google apps that can potentially lead to data leakages via autosync.

3. Pixel Private Space kind of *addresses* the issue, but doesn't fully solve it. In the default AOSP user, one can login to their alt Google profile inside the private space without data easily leaking into the default space. Private Space works well, but can only be created for the default user, not for a second AOSP user. If Google could add ability to create Private Space in a second AOSP user, that could be another solution.

3. Another third thing I just thought of. So, pixel private space essentially addresses this issue in the default space. However, a full fledged solution would be allowing users to create private space in a second user. Currently it can't be done, so if Google would bring private space to AOSP multiple users, this would be another solution.

There are more ideas, just these 3 off the top of my head.

Samsung is stubborn about qi2. Idea - instead of going fully horizontal, how about going halfway: diagonal. This diagonal camera layout would leave enough space below the lowest camera for all qi2 accessories/ qi2 batteries to properly fit and still give Samsung a unique look
