@rachel@norfolk.social @tracestrack@en.osm.town So on the 'Way's themselves you have ref A134. The 'Relation' is called A134 but the ref on it is A132 and always has been since creation a couple of years ago. I doubt my sanity, but assume that's a typo?

I know Mastodon hates LLM's and AI. So here goes! I recently got access to trusted access of cyber capabilities of both openai and anthropic, which also allows you to weaponize security vulnerabilities. The speed at which these parrots can find bugs and be creative enough to exploit them is staggering. I recently pointed an LLM at an kernel fix that was reachable by an unprivileged namespace on Debian and it fully weaponized it, without too much me prompting it in the right direction, in about 7-9 hours. I don't think open-source and companies will know what's coming for them once these open-source weight models will have broader reach and get better at exploiting vulnerabilities on a massive scale as anyone can access them. The bottom line I think is, you cannot patch faster than the attackers can easily chain all kinds of vulnerabilities together and just move laterally on an incredibly fast pace. I've started reporting vulnerabilities to all kinds of projects and the majority have trouble or patching issues found. There's not enough maintainers, or there's simply none anymore. I've been getting quite worried about what our future will look like for data privacy. I think outright not running an LLM over your codebase to find critical security vulnerabilities because of your moral stance will keep us more insecure. Please run an LLM over your code base if it's internet facing or something critical, we thank you! Can't wait for the discussions on this!

@greg_harvey@tooting.ch That could be worded better. That Certified Partners have to make contributions seems fair enough, that organizations that don't pay enough, or it's not relevant (see LocalGov Drupal's org profile as an example), but do contribute; that they get that banner, worded that way. I'd say off putting.

"We need to choose. Some things you can perfectly well let machines do, but then they must be driven by people, not the other way round. "We have made reporting litter easier with an app. It works well, but we didn't stop to think that the residents of Oud-Zuid make reports more than those in North, so we more often go and clean in Zuid. You can't solve that technically, you need to talk to the residents." Translated from an interview with the ex-CTO of Amsterdam https://www.parool.nl/amsterdam/ger-baron-was-12-jaar-de-it-baas-van-amsterdam-bij-afis-hadden-we-harder-moeten-zeggen-doe-dit-niet~be0212ce5/

RE: @harry_wood@en.osm.town

So are the (Local Authority) Custodians of the address data able to license it? Shouldn't it be Open Data? I have to say I'm pleased The Netherlands has fallen on the correct side of this one (look at the addresses in OSM in NL).

It's not like heavily upfront funded corporations haven't been known to be unreliable in the past. When the crunch comes capital wants to be paid.

And these particular corporations have already shown themselves not to be the most consistently ethical.

I'm sure there were reasons till a year ago we were pushing for things like more Open Source, and lower resource usage. What were they again?

@liaizon@social.wake.st Nope. I see different actor and attributedTo for collaborative things: mobilizon, discourse. But attributedTo is singular. Does an attempt at a search of the web for json strings. Ohh... could PeerTube potentially: https://github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube/issues/2704

@GeeBee@cyberplace.social I had to write a plugin for unknown wordpress sites. Making the output configurable by themes (many filters I recall) hurt my brain. Not sure many folk then actually configured the output (properly) afterward either.

@liaizon@social.wake.st We need more collaborative object implementations. It's how the world works (and we should want it to work). The spec is already there (attributedTo) can be 'one or more objects', and the actor can already be a group or organization.

@robotistry@mstdn.ca @derickr@phpc.social @Crell@phpc.social @wwhitlow@indieweb.social Anologous to what I was thinking about. I think there are fundemental differences between a bank's systems and an OS project though. Communaly maintained projects are the evolving product of a dialogue between people which is framed using the code. The structure of the code, the discussion around understanding, is used in deciding the bigger picture and important: how and what to do.

@derickr@phpc.social @Crell@phpc.social @wwhitlow@indieweb.social Writing and maintaining code - not one off projects for x - but all the rest that they are built on - is a social process in and of itself. What happens when the discussion and the collective learning and memory about it is lost? Feels minor in relation to many of the global and localized impacts mentioned in the post, but one that I've not seen thought through elsewhere.

Another nice bit from the Xdebug session. It looks like Native Path Mapping https://xdebug.org/funding/001-native-path-mapping is here https://xdebug.org/announcements/2025-10-07 You can set the mappings in files in a .xdebug directory of the project(s) (rather than the editor's config). You can even set mappings to skip code (think vendor, like the symfony autoloader, you don't want to step into every time).
