I hope former CEO and current dead guy Brian Thompson is listening to angelic hold music through a terrible speaker while St. Peter figures out how sinful lying to an insurance exec is about why he's been rejected from the hereafter.

@aptronym@autistics.life At the risk of getting labeled "the annoying repair clinic guy"... Volunteer or patronize your local Repair Café/Clinic and build relationships! It's a great way to meet your neighbors! You have a built-in subject of conversation! If you're fixing, you get to poke new, weird things! If you're bringing something, you can save money and keep a thing going instead of throwing it away! It's a ton of fun, and you get to justify your special interest in some specific household appliance. #RepairCafe #RepairClinic #Volunteer #Community #Neighbors

@cR0w@infosec.exchange Eh, Musk/Tesla kinda pushed it over the line. IIRC, Teslas originally had a bunch of different pedestrian alert noises, including a "custom" option. Of course folks immediately figured out that "custom" could include an MP3 that was just silence, so poof no more alert noise at all.

I know that my neighbors have a dog. And I know that they have a back yard bordering on mine, with a simple chain-link fence separating the two. And I know that they will let the dog into the back yard for fresh air and other business. AND YET I, an adult man with a mortgage and a checkbook and crippling social anxiety, I'll still look out the window in my kitchen and see the neighbor's dog in their back yard and instinctively say "puppy!"

Banks can now get access to insider trading information, straight from the POTUS's mouth. For a fee, of course. Axios reports Trump Media has already signed several customers ahead of the Aug. 1 launch, including financial news organizations and high-frequency trading firms. https://www.axios.com/2026/07/16/truth-social-license-data-wall-street A letter from Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va) to the financial services industry urges banks to reject Truth Social's new service that would offer advance access to the president's posts on the platform. "In a letter to the presidents of Bank Policy Institute, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, Managed Funds Association, Financial Services Forum, Principal Traders Group, and American Bankers Association, Sen. Warner wrote, “I write regarding Trump Media & Technology Group’s (TMTG) announcement that it will begin offering financial institutions and other users the option of paying TMTG for prioritized delivery of posts from President Trump (and other Truth Social accounts as determined by TMTG). This arrangement presents a serious risk to market integrity, creates a clear and unacceptable pathway for corruption, and undermines public confidence in the fair dissemination of market-moving government information – a crucial factor in maintaining stable and trustworthy financial markets.” "Sen. Warner explained that, according to TMTG, the Truth API will provide select paying customers with advance access to posts from top Truth Social accounts, a list that includes the president’s, faster than regular users receive push notifications or can manually monitor Truth Social. Trump Media has said the service is specifically designed for organizations “most impacted by the cost of a delay in information,” including algorithmic trading firms, and customers have already signed up for the service, which it has reportedly offered for $100,000 per month." https://www.warner.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/260721.Warner_Finance_Truth_API_letter.pdf

Mail-ordered Christ on an e-bike. After researching on TheWirecutter I tried to order a couch from Burrow on July 1st, and I think I actually succeeded? Their website listed it in stock, but I didn't get any shipping notifications for three weeks. I finally emailed them about it, and the couch immediately went from "in stock" to "backordered for 12 weeks". Since I expected already have the furniture by now, I told them to cancel and refund the order last night. Instead, this morning I got a bunch of shipping notifications and a message from their customer support that because my order had shipped (y'know, the one that was backordered for three months), they couldn't cancel it. What an absolute fuckin' clown show. Avoid Burrow furniture and Havenly like the fuckin' plague. #Burrow #Couch #Wirecutter #TheWirecutter #Furniture

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@0x00string/117004735485760298 Now, I'm just a simple doctor of internetology with all the legal training of a parrot owned by a superfan of Law and Order prior to her untimely and not-at-all-suspicious death, but I'm confident this is guilty of Wrongness in the First Degree, with Aggravated Incorrectitude. The appropriate phraseiotology is "EXEMPT from state and local laws". This tightly binds the lesser fey courts as if with iron or DNS TXT entries. With the current forumulation, you might as well print a sign for your front door saying "DRAGULAS WELCOME".
