Was kann da schon schiefgehen: Werbe-Bonbons von denen eine erwachsene Person maximal 2 pro Tag essen sollte (laut gut versteckter Nährwerttabelle; 40 laut Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung).

Anfrage, was sich insbesondere bzgl. Kindern dabei gedacht wurde, ist raus. Und wahrscheinlich sind die nichtmal die Produzenten, sondern es gibt noch drölfzig Reseller der gleichen schlechten Idee.

@mrobillard@social.sigsoft.org Likely tech reason: It's hard to implement random file conversions fast enough in the app (incl. the review latencies by Apple + Google), so instead they have a backend for that which lives on their servers.
Would have been nice to include a list of "files types guaranteed _not_ to be send", though.

Today I replaced a $1.23/h PostgreSQL based solution with a $12.3/h DynamoDB one. (No other measurable difference on any endpoint metric we care about.)
I'm a 10x engineer. \o/

(I recently came back to that video after having contemplated for a bit too log how the systems architecture I was debugging could potentially make sense.)

@splitbrain@fedi.splitbrain.org I like when people guess(timate) answers to questions I post. Maybe I learn something new anyway, maybe I learn a neat new way to make educated guesses. Many questions I have don't have only one right answer, and getting more viewpoints and ideas is valuable.
And yes, sometimes I learn whom to mute.

@raymaccarthy @MediaActivist Yeah. They mean "quantum efficiency", i.e. a single photon had more energy than needed to create a single electron/hole pair. So far, that excess is lost (to heat); the research found a way to convert (part of) that to electricity as well.

@scy@chaos.social I'm masking *a lot* these days. For mostly non-Covid reasons, i.e. pollen allergy (*). You might want to reduce your association between public masking and Covid-carefulness.
*) But I'm masking in high-Covid-risks contexts because I'm used to masks anyway so for me the downside is extremely small.
