They held out for a good while, but at last @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net no longer supports uBlock Origin because it is Chromium based.
I've been testing out @Waterfox@mastodon.social for the past week and it's a pretty good browser with Firefox bones sans all the bloat and AI junk - and it supports uBlock Origin - so I'll be using that as my primary web browser from now on.
I can't believe I didn't think of this before, but I added a handful of Subreddits to my RSS reader.
Just add .rss to the end of the subreddit name in the URL.
Now I'll check them along with my other carefully curated RSS feeds only once a day instead of navigating to the website sometimes multiple times a day and getting sucked in.

Hi, neighbors! I've been using Mastodon across various instances since 2018, maybe earlier. Lately I've felt the need to start using a smaller instance as my go-to. And then I remembered I made this account on writing.exchange nearly 3 years ago and haven't done anything with it. I've been using Write.as since 2020 and absolutely love it. I have been a subscriber to Day One - a fantastic journaling app for years. They have always had a big emphasis on privacy, which I appreciate.
With their latest app update came a new "Gold" subscription tier with "AI" (LLM) features baked in. I also discovered that my subscription had automatically been upgraded to this new tier.
I immediately exported the contents of my journal, deleted it, and cancelled my subscription.

I need to write a blog post - or probably a series of blog posts - about this, but I've been thinking a lot about a quote often mis-attributed to Gandhi: "Be the change you want to see in the world."
Still good advice. I'm tired of waiting for the world to change. I need to take more responsibility for my own choices and try to live according to my values in all aspects of my life.
