Every time I've seen this movie, I find that it's full of *great* bits that don't fully cohere into a great whole. So many of the moments of Styles being puppetted are fantastic, I think, for example. The sum total is good, but not as great as the parts. #Monsterdon

I don't think putting Stephen King and H. P. Lovecraft together *quite* works. They're trying to pull off a niche author who is somehow an epochal publishing phenomenon, a writer who'd be famous among nerds who like to sing Cthulhu carols becoming somehow a worldwide celebrity. It doesn't *quite* gel. I wonder if it would work better if Cane were portrayed as an author who'd started with books like *Carrie* and then *became* weird in the squamous eldritch chthonian sense. #Monsterdon
