Let me see if I got this straight.
Northern Europeans colonize this continent where a lot of the land lies within or near the Tropics; they transplant their industry and their lifestyle here, utterly ignoring the adaptations the people already living here for thousands of years had discovered and invented; they expect us to live in houses with thin walls, crammed together in cities filled with energy-hungry machinery and not nearly enough trees, and work while the Sun is up in the deadly heat of the summer; and then dare to have opinions about air conditioning?
Color me surprised.
