This dude decided to be cheeky and knock on the window to let us know that one of the feeders is empty. This was early in the morning and although there was faint smell of smoke sky hadn't turned full sepia yet. I couldn't take picture when he started knocking as I didn't have my phone on me and by the time i grabbed the phone, he had turned his back on us #finches #birdphotography

Both me and my wife suffer from Plantar Fasiatis ( sp? ). Completing that outfeed table has been really hard on my feet and wife also has been having pain along the side of her leg with all the work she has been doing in garden. so today we decided to stop procrastinating and went and bought ourselves nice comfy sneakers. And boy have we been kicking ourselves for not doing this sooner! We went for Bondi 9 shoes from Hoka and it's like walking on cloud! Really should have done this sooner. It's funny how things that bring you greatest pleasure change as you get older..

Here are few other pictures from the garden. we tried different species of eggplants this year and this is first year for sugersnap peas. chillies are not really hot which is just as well because with age our tolerence for super hot has gone down fair bit. 2/2 #vegetables #vegetablegardening

@pwithnall@mastodon.social @andy@social.4142.io @sundogplanets@mastodon.social Same would be true of F150 here in NA. I wasn't trying to go for something that would weigh exactly as much as starlink satelite. I think idea was to use something bulky, heavy and relatable that you wouldn't want to have falling out of sky on your head. I didn't think 60s Morris mini or 70s reliant robin would evoke same feeling of heft and size.

@birdofwood@mastoart.social @tito_swineflu@sfba.social Yep. I knew we were in agreement :) As for plans, I have come to accept that not everyone has skills to both design and build. and most people starting out in woodworking start with learning how to build and may then slowly move to design if they stick with hobby. still.... I am just happy that people are picking up this hobby.

Things have improved. there is still distinct smell of smoke in the air. but air doesn't feel as heavy as it was yesterday and as you can see in the photo there is noticeably less yellow tinge to the air. For reference, I am about 1800 kms from where wildfires in Ontario are. #wildfires #airquality

Finally first coat of finish is on the outfeed/ assembly table. 2 or 3 more costs and then wax should be enough to protect from inevitable glue spills. #woodworking

@birdofwood@mastoart.social @tito_swineflu@sfba.social Fair point. we each choose tools that best help us deliver the outcome. Although I love restoring vintage tools ( both handtools as well as powertools ), with arthiritis in both my thumb joints, I use less handtools and more powertools. I use CAD and 3d modelling software to design my projects or atleast try to ... although in many cases I tend to wing it. CNC is just another tool in a woodworker's arsenal. it hasn't replaced design process yet. when it does that, I am happy to put it in the category of AI slop. until then, my opinion stands :) And before anyone points me to "woodworkers" just buying designs off etsy and churning out "things", let me remind you those are no different than buying woodworking plans which have been available in woodworking stores since god knows when..

@dramypsyd@ohai.social most sales databases I found scrape current titles and current employers to determine targets. so I bet that would help. ofcourse if you are a young profesional trying to increase your visibility or searching for new opportunities then that would actually hurt you, but I am far from that thankfully and if I lose my job at this stage, I am more than likely to just say F that and start my retirement.

I had a friend that I worked with for couple of decades. when I moved on to my current job, we kept in touch thru facebook. I was so used to seeing his posts few times day. he was fairly active politically and had strong opinions. loved vintage cars. And every birthday of mine he would annoy me by posting some really goofy picture of me. Mid June I realized that I hadn't seen a post from him in a few days so I posted on his wall asking him how he was doing. turns out reason he hadn't posted anything was because he suddenly passed away. Today I got early morning call on WhatsApp from an old friend I have known since we were in uni together and she let me know that one of our friends sudenly passed away while at work. she called me as she was travelling to visit his family. Do check on your friends and family peeps. none of us are getting any younger. Now time to go find something to distract myself with. Today hasn't been a good day :(

Spent a disasterous day in garden today. it had rained entire day yesterday. I didn't realize that grass had become slippery with so much rain. that coupled with old shoes with worn out sole meant I ended up twisting my ankle of my right foot. so I am going to be icing it and staying off it for next 2-3 days. being only person in family that drives means there is going to be lots of ordering stuff in next 2-3 days. Oh well... I suppose I should be glad it wasn't worse than just a twist....
