@sabinaleonelli@mstdn.social What are the "worries"? A Nobel Prize winner (Geoff Hinton) spending his retirement consulting about AI "safety" does not endanger #OpenScience. And if a rogue nation/actor uses AI for disinformation, this has nothing to do with research. There is a serious issue that gets lost: we are at risk of delaying the upside benefits of knowledge synthesis by focusing on these hypothesized "risks." And we should be clear what we mean by "#AI" before we discuss its supposed drawbacks.

@sabinaleonelli@mstdn.social I'm tempted to submit an abstract, but on 1st pass it seems to have a bit of a loaded agenda as it relates to my realm of #AI-assisted #research: "AI for socially responsive and responsible forms of open research" doesn't read (to me at least) as very warm to the idea and "AI" in the same keynote title as "misinformation" is def a turn-off as it would seem to imply #deepfake image/video gen (if so, how relevant to research process itself?) or hallucinations (very different).
