This is the main reason employers don't want fundamental changes to the US healthcare system. Their share of the costs has increased heavily over the last two decades, but they love its impact on employee retention.
This is a feature not a bug.

@benroyce@mastodon.social @jonesmurphy@mastodon.social @MxVerda@lgbtqia.space Absolutely. People ignore the reality that the primary is extremely important. It is where their vote carries the most weight as they are directly influencing the Democratic Party.
I #vote in every election. People gave their most prized possession, their life, so I could. I honor them by aggressively exercising my right to vote.

@evdelen@mstdn.ca @benroyce@mastodon.social I don’t think you get a natural rightward bend by pulling more people into the voter pool than has traditionally been in it. We see a rightward bend with Trump as the voters he tapped into feel like their votes are actually counting as Republicans haven’t been successful in thwarting their populist base.
#Democrats need to vote in more primaries to get Democrat candidates that represent where voters want them to go. #Primaries are the important thing being missed.

@MxVerda@lgbtqia.space @benroyce@mastodon.social How does not voting fix any problems?
I can agree there are issues with #moneyinpolitics and social media propaganda. But we can’t hope to even begin to move the needle on anything if people aren’t even voting.

@benroyce@mastodon.social We absolutely need everyone people to vote! This mess we're in is simply due to far too many people neglecting to #vote!

@mxchara@seattle.pink Insurance is complex and I'm not sure I like the idea of for profit health insurers. That said, I think the biggest challenge in the US healthcare system is how large these hospital systems are becoming. They're effectively turning into regional monopolies.

@witchescauldron@kolektiva.social The challenge for the #left is listening to the old quote. “Perfection is the enemy of the good.” And understanding its meaning.
We’re pushing a boulder uphill to an apex we may never ourselves see. We must insist on progress, but not let the pursuit of perfection lock in place.

This wildfire smoke has been absolutely brutal. Hopefully our Canadian friends are able to get the fires under control.

The CDC has listed Taco Bell as the source of the rise in infections from the Cyclospora parasite. They omitted the supplier Taylor Farms. That supplier is massive so this extends well beyond Taco Bell.

@DaveFlater@infosec.exchange Public Schools and education would go a long way to preventing where we are right now. The problem is the public school system has been getting gutted for over 2 decades now.
We're seeing the results of a system with less public education not more.

@hrbrmstr@mastodon.social I'm not anti-AI either. That's a scary way to approach #AI for any developer. Not reading the code, not focusing on what's produced, or its results is madness.
How would you guard against hallucinations otherwise? How would you continue enhancing and developing your own skills?

@dealwire@social.gamefan.net I could never buy food on Amazon. We know they have no QC on what ends up being shipped as new. We also know they'll put food sourced from dumpsters and ship it as new.
Not worth the risk.
