@badnetmask@hachyderm.io @radieschen@climatejustice.social here is all of my homelab(outside vps) running a good ammount of services, here is the source code https://github.com/Alper-Celik/MyServers Also cool thing about being that small is that i can bring it me when i go to long trip so if something gpes wrong i can actually troubleshoot it, since i am at University i travel a lot be it going to internship, visiting family etc. And not having a week of downtime because your apertmants vdsl cable got funky while you are visiting your family for a week is nice. Also since my ISP doesnt give ipv6 nor routable ipv4 adress(because of cgnat) i adapted and use tailscale and vps as proxy so my homelab only needs to be able to establish tailscale connection to serve everything

@badnetmask@hachyderm.io @radieschen@climatejustice.social you would be surprised how far you can go with usb hdd when you are the only user of self hosted software like i run postgresql, nextcloud, immich and much more on hdd and btrfs without nodatacow for database and it performed just fine(tho weirdly jpurnalctl was really slow when not vacuumed but grafana+loki was blazingly fast :P)

@radieschen@climatejustice.social @badnetmask@hachyderm.io oh fun times, btrfs or microsd card stopped me from data loss but i got kernell freeze and in small times it didnt freeze i did see there was write taking longer than 120 seconds warnings in the dmesg. I switched to hard disk and later added nvme ssd for os and program files etc.

@notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com @danbrotherston@types.pl @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social i would say it is still comicly efficient and scalable compared to cars but that is beating a dead horse at that point. but i guess if you are travelling espicaily on rush hours using bike renting apps like lime or keeping a bike in a bike park (like how you did in your how i commute video) would be more viable rather than trying to get into the train that is packed full with bicycle

i want to try doing #OpenWRT #extroot kind of thing but with #nfs . since my #router doesn't have usb slot and its flash is 8mb. I am thinking about putting NFS mounting after core services are up and network is somewhat operational to not have cascading network failures stemming from vps being down or chiken and egg problem with local nfs share not being able to connect to it. like i currently want it for running #tailscale subnet router directly on router instead of running it on another device with static route on the router. also i kinda want to try running actual #mulvadvpn cli client instead of wireguard profies to be able to use #DAITA and anti censorship features. tho i am not sure how mulvads #nftables rules would interact with openwrt firewall which uses nftables under the hood.

I wish #KeepassXC had #LUKS 2 like slot based encryption so you could have a #fido2 with pin in a slot to easy acces while having a password file for recovery etc. also i wish it had proper #fido2 #hmac extension based unlock instead of current security key support so you could use auto deletion on failed attempts and use a pin with low entropy safely and do user verification on high end security keys

i dont get much of a reason to use #JWT s at least on projects meant to be self hosted, like api tokens that are stored in db achives everything without complex renewal and revocation logic and when you need to support old protocols or simpler clients you need to implement app password kind of system and come back to needing to store hashes of tokens anyway

https://www.bmo.org.tr/2026/08/03/siber-guvenlik-baskanligina-sinirsiz-yetki-veren-duzenleme-internet-sansurudur/ IMO any internet infrastructure in Turkey is a liability. what a joke of a country. see @engelliweb@mastodon.social if you wanna see the extent of it
