Got a sneak peek at the McDonnell planetarium's new projection system today, due to the fact that the company for which I work funded it. If you live in or near #StLouis, or visit, make sure you see it.

The St. Louis Astronomical Society with special telescopes set up with which you could safely look at the sun. We saw sunspots and coronal mass ejections, so cool.

Our republic is 250 today, young compared to some, but it has still weathered much and remained standing.

Strong storms this afternoon knocked out our electricity, but our neighbors had room on their fridge for some of our perishables.

Despite the power outage, burgers and hot dogs were nonetheless grilled.

Saw a specialist about a nagging medical issue. He was very nice, easy to talk to; I think I may be close to getting it resolved.

Had lunch at Gioia's Deli (a #StLouis legend). A roast beef and hot salami sandwich with #provel - yum!

Had the rest if the day off, so I got a lot done: grass cut, dishes washed, clothes washer cleaned, other odds and ends.

Started teaching myself (again) how to build a website from scratch with HTML and CSS.

@thepdog@mas.to Maybe it's because I grew up in a rural area, where you couldn't go anywhere or do anything without a car, but I was taking that test as soon as I could. Kids today, at least where I live now, seem to be in no hurry. I'm torn between the anxiety I will feel when he is behind the wheel, and the relief I will feel when I don't have to drive him everywhere.

@ottaross@mastodon.social Probably late to the party with this, but I wanted to say that you can make this your browser's default #search method. The how varies by browser, but quick search should turn up the instructions for whatever you browse with. I have it set as default on Zen for Linux and MacOS and Fennec for Android.
