I haven’t done much with turn based tactical games in recent years, I think my fav aspect of TBW is how the fictional conceits have a fun way of justifying the gameplay, and really taking those ideas as far as possible. Some of the later battles are so elaborately orchestrated that it’s impossible to conceptualise the actual sequence of events, but it all hangs together because it’s a story about an actual wizard with time powers.
