Hand made signs from a street corner butcher shop in Santiago de Chile. These are becoming quite rare. 7 years ago, even the supermarkets had them. Cc @blag@typo.social

You can find accounts on the making of costumes for a science fiction movie every time a new one goes to the theaters, but seldom do you get an article about sewing the real space suits, and the people involved. This one is a real treat, for those sewing technical fabrics, like @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org, or using painstaking traditional methods, like @sinituulia@eldritch.cafe https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/the-bra-and-girdle-maker-that-fashioned-the-impossible-for-nasa/

@99percentinvisible I was listening to “Breakdown of the Constitution N° 9” this morning, and this article came my way to illustrate it: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2026/04/supreme-court-clarence-thomas-veterans-victory.html

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org the grift that keeps on grifting: here in Santiago, Hoyts Cinemas has a per ticket service fee for internet sales. Per ticket. It’s cheaper to buy tickets at the cinema (!) #oldmanyellsatcloud #niceDreams Biden would have eliminated those!

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net “when you report spam in ways that it actually does something” Curious minds would like to know! I had a number of spammers damaging my account for over a decade. I used Spamcop regularly and reported them many times, to no avail. Filtering ended up being my only viable choice. The spam only stopped because I changed my domain.

@toxi@mastodon.thi.ng I love this! The tools may exist, but it is very hard to grapple with how to start when trying to create with tools like Processing. This helps a lot, but more work is needed: maybe instead of this year, you could work on it for next year?

@Nshrubs@mstdn.social @zer0unplanned@friendica.rogueproject.org I lived in New Hampshire and it was also incredibly hard to bike there. I’m able to bike everywhere because Santiago does have a great bike infrastructure. First time in my life I am able to do it.

@yiningkarlli@mastodon.gamedev.place if you are going to use justified text, consider limiting the size of the container to 65 to 85ch (characters in CSS), that will help with legibility

I've been thinking all week about the work that @kandid@chaos.social published last week. The spiral is particularly fetching. I want it to see it rotating and tried animating it, but it turns out that the barber-pole illusion makes it very difficult. @yuri9000series@premis.one that white has a beautiful design, it is very expensive and it seems that was not very secure. I have a very dumb robot vacuum that we call BMO and we plan to keep it being dumb: no cameras or microphones, no mapping.

@yuri9000series@premis.one this one also show off your house sights and sounds to the world: one buyer tried to guide it using his PS5 controller, and accidentally vibecoded his way to accessing 7000 of them, and seeing and listening to the cameras and microphones those had.
