  In a discussion of criticisms of Python as a development platform I went with "Python only eat hot chip and lie" and the more I think about it, I really stand behind "Python only eat hot chip and lie" as a solid analysis.

  It's always funny to run across this sort of thing in the current version of software. It does no real harm, but it's a reminder of just how much of modern tech stacks secretly hasn't been touched in decades. Support for building on Irix 6.5 is documented as "deprecared" but not yet removed. So I guess we are still in the Irix transition period. (Irix 6 is from the mid 90's, for those too young to recognize the OS's name.)

  If something goes wrong with today's Artemis launch, the headlines around it will all be the dumbest April fools crap, and nobody will even know it happened. It'll just look like one of the dumbass gags was in poor taste.

  @GossiTheDog Honestly, as pessimistic as I was, "Meta" threw so much money and reputation at metaverse I honestly thought something permanent would come out of it even if it was still just a token executive toy VRML chat app just to keep the boss happy.

  While roided up ICE goons are grinding their teeth at airports looking for an excuse to hurt somebody and passengers are pissed off and TSA isn't getting paid, a secret service agent decided to shoot himself at an airport. Frankly it seems like dumb luck that a random gunshot going off didn't escalate into a horrific miscommunication and over-reaction.
