  • LLM mathematical proof exploits theorem proover bugs

Okay, we have a new contender for Most AI Thing to Ever Happen July 25th: someone messes around with an LLM and posts a proof of the Collatz conjecture that does, in fact, verify in the theorem prover. (The AI use is not disclosed on the github page) https:// github.com/xrchz/CollatzLean July 26th: several serious bugs are posted in the theorem provers, that in principle could allow a false statement to be “proven” true. They’re serious, yes, but no need for panic, because you’re not goi...

The psychopath part is important. You can’t get there without dehumanising your workers.

Still worth a watch if you haven’t in a while. The way the interviewer cracks always gets me.

Ironically, that stability is probably why AMD target Ubuntu. They don’t want everything else on the bleeding edge. Just their bit.

I’m always getting powers of ten wrong. Regardless 500 workers Vs one CFO?

Nowhere in the Bible is being gay defined as a sin. I think that’s true of the new testament, but I think the old would hold male on male gay sex as a sin (i.e. “soddemy”). The act, not the state of being. I don’t think lesbianism is ever referred to. But you’re right. The entire point is that we all sin and we all ask for forgiveness. We should all be humble to god. Of course, it’s all bullshit, but it’s also been corrupted so much that Christians don’t even live by the lessons. …signe...

The rationale for bail out the banks previously was that the retail arms (what you and I use) were so intertwined with the commercial arms that allowing the commercial part to fail caused the loss of everyone’s money. Regulation was introduced (at least in the UK. I don’t know about elsewhere) that ring fenced the two from each other, making future bailouts unnecessary. The commercial arm would shoulder the risk of its own investments. Doesn’t stop corrupt politicians bailing them out though.

We have a government that thinks the population needs to be parented through authoritarian means. The don’t understand that even though their intentions might be benign, they are still building the infrastructure of an authoritarian state.

Why are even non-contact sports segregated? Tennis? Why?! This has been tested on multiple occasions en.wikipedia.org/…/Battle_of_the_Sexes_(tennis) The only real win in singles was Billie Jean King (then 29yo) over Bobby Riggs (then 55yo). Riggs had recently beaten Margaret Court who was a 17 year number one in the women’s game. Martina Navratilova in 2023 stated that the reason the 55-year-old Riggs lost to the 29-year-old King was simply because of age.[37] Navratilova said Riggs lo...

Inference of 3D models exists. Combined with a rule deck of what the machine is capable of (i.e. so tools aren’t broken) I think you could be very close to “prompt to object” prototyping flows — if they don’t already exist. Still might need a pair of hands to clean up. Now, how many botched tries are people willing to to pay the material cost of, who knows?

I don’t see how that helps the validity of race as a concept.
