An early-season low will dive southward off CA coast into tomorrow, bringing widespread rainfall to Central Coast (& lesser showers elsewhere). Aided by unusually strong jet overhead, cold air aloft, & record-warm ocean temps, some notable thunderstorm activity is also possible.

Impressive line of strong to severe thunderstorms along Central Coast, including SLO & western SBA counties. Special Marine Warnings are in effect for potential waterspouts, & there's even a Severe T-storm Warning over land for strong winds (with a "possible tornado" tag). #CAwx

In case you missed it, this was recorded live and is now available. Over the past couple of hours, a line of severe thunderstorms has developed along California's Central Coast and a potentially strong/damaging tornado likely occurred near Heber-Overgaard in Arizona. NWS San Diego has issued new Coastal Flood Warning for near-record/record-breaking tides and possible widespread coastal inundation in SoCal Sun-Thu. And there's no king tides or major storms in the mix yet...just elevated sea levels from extreme El Nino plus long-term warming.

On Tuesday at 10am PT (around the time of peak daily high tide in parts of southern CA), I'll have a livestream to discuss the possibly record high ocean levels this week along SoCal coast, plus potential for an unusually warm storm on/around Halloween. Record high ocean water levels...

Odds of active weather in at least in SoCal around Halloween continue to grow. Current model forecasts indicate potential for a strong and unusually warm/low-latitude low pressure system with the *possibility* of strong winds and significant rain. I'll discussing this week!

The extraordinary wildfire outbreak across Oregon, eastern Washington, and southern British Columbia has become even more alarming amid critical fire weather conditions. Over 500,000 acres have already burned in OR & WA alone, and that number could be >1 million acres by Mon.

The wildfire situation in the Southern Rockies continues to escalate. A new and fast-moving wind-driven fire today southwest of Pueblo, CO (#AspenAcresFire, near Beulah, circled in yellow) is of particular concern, and is currently burning through populated areas. #COwx

A serious and still-escalating wildfire outbreak is now underway across interior West, and has today expanded beyond NV & UT into western CO & AZ/NM. Extreme fire behavior and rapid spread is widespread; adverse conditions expected for 7+ days. #UTwx #COwx #AZwx #NMwx [Thread]
