    Well, I didn&amp;#39;t know that alkaline #batteries can explode, but that&amp;#39;s what just happened. I heard a loud bang, and then the two AAA batteries of a remote control (Duracell Plus AAA, best before 01/2032) were lying on the floor, one hot and with the negative end partially open, the other unaffected.
