A project built on VRChat just won an Emmy! I am supremely chuffed! We put a lot of effort over the past few years into making sure our tools are high enough quality that folks can do stuff like that and last night SOMEONE DID! We didn't win the Emmy of course, but it's so cool to see a project I work on and care about so deeply be listed. https://www.televisionacademy.com/shows/uncanny-alley-a-new-day?

youtubers are like "No one knows how this common thing works UNTIL NOW! Luckily for you I have a 9 minute and 13 second video that explains EVERYTHING, just like 23 other youtubers mysteriously have at the exact same time!"

Is there a light weight activitypub that I can self host without wanting to go nuclear every update? What does that landscape look like

I'm experimenting with hosting a single-user instance at @voltur@voltur.one . I'll be following some of y'all there. I know it can be obnoxious when folks are constantly hopping instances and stuff, so I'll try not to do that.

There are some vehicles I would buy. (I no longer have a car/truck. ) but i just can't justify buying a non-electric/hybrid anymore and most of the vehicles that are interesting enough to get me to even consider are all old. So... /shrug. I'm just so uninterested in owning another vehicle.

lmao @ usps logistics. An item has been shipped to me from Florida. It went to Denver, where I live and has been sent to Seattle, where it will be sent back to Denver. lmao. The original estimate would have been correct if it had been sorted properly at that stop.

I got to FaceTime my mother with my brothers today. She's in a care facility in another state, so I don't get to see her as much as I'd like. We make an effort though. I know we don't have many Mother's Days left with her.

i'm giving a talk in 15 minutes or so about some interesting observations during my last bout of threat hunting. i was showing my wife my slides while preparing and i have a Princess Bride reference in it. She just looked at me and was like "I hope they're old enough to get it." So if I have to suffer that psychic damage, so do you.

If you knew you were going to die, like really knew it was coming. What would you do? Like what is "that thing" you know you'll have wished you did? Read a book wish you had read? Lay out under the stars and try to count your favorites? Make some beautiful (or ugly) art to make people feel something? Tell people you love them? Finish that novel you keep thinking about when you drive by your Starbucks? Anyway, everyone dies. Now you know, so go do whatever it is.

Made some progress this morning while tinkering. Added a library view that, right now, only loads up lists of artists. I had set up the data structure to be somewhat "playlist" driven at each level of abstraction, so artists, albums, and tracks can all be handed off like a single playlist, which means this library view is going to be relatively easy to apply across the board. UX itself won't be, but this is the fun of tinkering.

I dont have a lot of unique life lessons to share, but this: I wish people were more willing to celebrate their peers, both professionally and personally. Its true that not everyone likes the celebratory spotlight, but most do and this isnt solved by not celebrating people, its solved by getting to know them. The vast VAST majority of people get no accolades or interpersonal kindness and feel like imposters or deeply alone. Be the fuel for some of the fires around you.

Something about the frenetic soundscape of the Dead Kennedys really meshes well with a gray, windy rain storm.
