  So Google Maps is claimed to be number one from most drivers. This time it was redirecting people fleeing local wildfires to forest service back roads back to the fire. 🤦‍♂️

  This morning I went for a walk and was happy that everyone I passed replied to my Good Morning. All ages too. Sometimes I wonder if teenagers get creeped out by someone older saying Good Morning or if it's a refreshing moment to remind them that there are nice people out there still.

  It’s unfortunate that shared articles in posts here are not reviewed beforehand. I need to see pop ups for subscription signups, cookie consent dialogs and App Store downloads for their app. Impossible to read, so why even share it? What has the internet turned into?! 😬

  I know some people care about the bickering drama between Apple and OpenAI but we should stop caring about corporations. Unless you’re a journalist forced to write this crap. Can’t imagine anyone cares who is right or wrong.

  Took an old Thinkpad out of the closet and installed Fedora Linux. My next step on getting off Big Tech. So far I got Vivaldi, Ecosia, Mastodon and Proton services. The more EU alternatives I can adapt to, I feel better. There are many search engines out there but results vary. For now i'm giving Ecosia a try for general searches. https://alternativeto.net is a good website to give yourself ideas.

  Slowly getting off American big tech and most of their other services. As much as possible and I will adapt to alternatives. I'm tired of the politics and US focused drama in tech and the world. This is double and triple the stress we went through during this clown's first term. If you have favourite websites with lists of alternative software and services that are not based in the US, please share and thank you in advance.
