I have exciting news to share. Version 2.0 of the @CyclingGuide mobile app is now available in Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iPhone. It has plenty of improvements. See the details here, and please try it out if you haven’t before. Did I mention that I'm excited? Happy cycling! 😀 🚴🏼♀️ 🚴🏿♂️ 🚴🏼 #BikeTooter #Cycling #WaterlooRegion https://cyclingguide.org/2025/04/announcing-cycling-guide-2-0/

Huge news in Ontario today! This will benefit people who cycle, but it will also benefit people who drive cars — though some of them might not know it yet. "Justice Paul Schabas concluded Wednesday that the bike lane removals will not reduce congestion. In his written decision, Schabas highlighted expert evidence ‘which establishes that bicycle lanes, and in particular separated or protected bicycle lanes, reduce motor vehicle traffic congestion by providing an alternative method of tr...

@ascentale@sfba.social @Cyclist@mastodon.scot @bikenite@fedigroups.social A5. At a high level, the experience of traveling *in* the world rather than *through* the world is biggest benefit for me. I get to hear and see things that I would miss in a car. I get to engage with people I pass with “hello” and waves. In general, I get to be far more present and in the moment. These things bring me joy! Also, when I cycle to a brewery patio I can get home safely 😀🍻🚴♀️❤️ #BikeNite

I’ve posted/tooted here a fair amount about @CyclingGuide — the Cycling Guide mobile app and the Cycling Guide Foundation (a registered charity in Canada). Right now we're looking for donations as the end of the year approaches. CGF is only on Mastodon! That goes for me as well. Obviously that limits our reach, but the engagement that I get here myself is pretty great. And I can feel good about promoting our work here while not dealing with the issues of being on the big commercial soc...

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@CyclingGuide/115951822116020081 Hello cyclists of the Nova Scotian Fediverse. If you know anyone who might be interested in seeing @CyclingGuide in your province, please share this link with them. We're intentionally not on the big social platforms, only here on Mastodon. And we'd appreciate your extending our reach by sharing this with friends and famliy who cycle. (And you can share it on those other platforms if you think that will help!) Thanks 😀🚴🏼♀️❤️...

@dilmandila@mograph.social Dolly Mixture were a turn-of-the-80s trio from the UK who didn’t last long, and didn’t really make any impact at all here in Canada (nor USA, presumably, and maybe not even in the UK). But their melodic guitar pop, with its glorious harmonies, has always stayed with me. 😀🎶🎸❤️

I just made a one-time donation of $120 — the equivalent of $10/month — to #mstdnca. It's the third year I’ve done it, so at this point I think that @chad@mstdn.ca knows he can count on me. If an alternative to corporate surveillance platforms is going to thrive, it's up to us as participants/members of our community to make sure that it's sustainable. Mastodon is the best alternative for me, and #mstdnca is the community that I’ve been a part of for over three years now. Whatever...
