  I feel like Doctor Who would be a very different show if people remembered that for most of human history everyone got the shits and splinter-free toilet paper wasn’t invented until the 1930s. 🤔

  It looks like the Powerball has just arrived in the UK, making us the first country outside the US to participate. 👀 It is quite expensive though, at £4 a line. If people want to participate in all three draws, that's £12 per week! 😮 Our other more established games are £1 per line for the Thunderball, £2 per line for the National Lottery, and £2.50 per line for the Euromillions. I suppose the Postcode Lottery charges £12.50, but that's for an entire month.

  Each morning I keep thinking about whether I should share my early impressions of Andy Burnham as our new Prime Minister, but he seems to have a pattern of alternating between making announcements about cool things I'm on board with and making announcements that make me want to skullbash the nearest wall. So it's hard at this stage to call it one way or the other whether he's actually an improvement. 🤔 #ukpol

  I’m rolling my eyes at the newspaper front pages this morning, because the millionaires saying “tax me daddy!” know that’s either not going to happen, will happen at a much lower rate than everyone else pays anyway, or their accountant will do a dodge for them that we weren’t hear about until they wrong somebody. It’s all just intended as positive PR to make it sound like they actually care. If they really want to contribute to the public finances, they can voluntarily overpay. Funnily enough,...

  For the benefit of those living in warmer climates, when we complain about #ukheatwave we're not trying to imply that our island's weather is hotter than yours. 🙄 We live on a damp island surrounded by water. So when it gets hot with high humidity, the heat hits different and our infrastructure doesn't really cope with it well. Nine months out of the year our weather is grey skies and drizzly rain.
