A few more pictures of Lanntair who is turning into a fine young #dog. 10 months old already and I'm pleased to say that her training is coming along and she's a pleasure to walk. #DogsOfMastodon #DogsOfFedi

#ShowerThought of the day: Apart from the obvious appeal to business of doing more with fewer/cheaper staff, I suspect #AI / #VibeCoding is popular with management as it turns coding into much more of a managerial task - supervising and reviewing the process rather than doing the creation. So they¹ like it because it turns your job into a job *they* are good at. Related, the technical people who are getting on well with such things seem to regard it as a management rather than creative process...

Interestingly while flicking through my dad's copy of #PCPro one columnest referred to #AI as a cancer on computing and another shuddered at the idea of asking ChatGPT something instead of Googling for it. Is it just me or does it feel like the tide is turning on the overselling of slopware?

It was the first session of a new series of Lanntair's training courses today. The weather wasn't very appealing, but she was a very good girl and did really well with her field work. #DogsOfMastodon #DogsOfFedi

A lovely #Easter weekend taking a little time to appreciate that it feels like #spring has finally sprung.

What a welcome bank holiday. A bit of a slow start with one more coffee needed to get both of us moving, then I took Lanntair for a walk to see my dad and pick up my car. Then @fierychrysanth and I took both dogs for a run in the woods to see the bluebells. Then pizza for tea thanks to an offer on the way home. #DogsOfMastodon

Is it just me or did #spring (when it eventually arrived) only last about two weeks before feeling like summer? Nevermind, Lanntair isn't complaining. #DogsOfMastodon #DogsOfFedi

@pwaring@social.xk7.net There is also the obvious posibility that they are fraudulently avoiding tax. Also I think there are still a lot of small businesses who last looked into a card machine when such things have onerous and expensive compliance requirements.

@diffrentcolours@tech.lgbt @pwaring@social.xk7.net I did read what seemed a thought out argument that HS3 should go around London linking existing mainlines and the four airports around London. Linking HS1 and 2 seems an obvious win. But given the open goal of restarting international services from Ashford not being taken, I'm not holding my breath for sane rail services.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net @diffrentcolours@tech.lgbt see also the frequent reference to the loss of a regrettable, but relatively small area of ancient woodland. But not a mention of a similar amount of ancient woodland being earmarked to be lost to a few miles of motorway for the second Thames crossing.

@dooferlad@c.im I feel like a bad geek for just getting on with my Microsoft ergo keyboard. Naturally they don't make them any more, so I stock up whenever they come up on eBay at a reasonable price.

@amberfirefly@mastodon.green oof! Sympathy for a nasty injury and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope you manage to work what needs to be done around it without too much pain!
