  I was listening to the tail end of Sideways on Radio4 ealier. Something about (physical) models and creating them. Someone was pointing out that the act of crafting a model is a fundamental part of the thinking process, feeling the shape form and making subtle tweaks and decisions as you go. And I found myself thinking “Yes. Software is the same. And AI takes that away”. The act of coding is a fundamental part of the thinking about software.

The Nazi “Herenrasse” all over again.   In a new twist, some folks, myself included, are being asked to develop agentic LLM systems not because they are a good idea, but because “More AI!”, and because “If we don’t, someone else will”. It is making me wonder just how many ethical developers are still out there, and if we are a dying breed. Intelligent Development is out, Bonus Driven Development is once again in 🤷‍♂️
